So preseason OU was 90 points for the Kraken. That made absolutely no sense. See they are in pace for 50.

They have played fine, they have had sub AHL level goaltending. With average goalie play they’d be in or around the playoffs

If I were a Seattle fan I wouldn’t get too down on them. Yes, it’s super frustrating to have poor goaltending pull the rug out from otherwise good team play. That’s hockey. But there are lots of reasons to be optimistic. Their top couple of lines and top defensive pairs are outplaying their opponents, which you don’t usually see in an expansion team. And there’s reason to hope on the goaltending. Grubauer has 200+ games of being a good goalie and 15 games of being an anchor. So sample size is in your favor. Also, goaltending is the best thing for your team to suck at because it’s the easiest thing to fix - you just need 1! If your forwards suck as a whole that’s a 5 year project to course correct.

Like all things Montreal, this is partly a Quebec thing. When you are an English speaker they will jump all over you at the first opportunity. The worst thing you can do in Montreal is be Not French Enough. Going to be pretty funny/sad when they run Shane Wright out of town.
Completely unimportant and probably stupid question, but could a Russian invasion of Ukraine have implications for Ovy catching Gretzky? Could visas for Russians be pulled in North America?
I doubt it, are they even talking about yanking work visas for all Russians in the US? Even if they did, they would probably have some kind of weird carve out to enable privileged people like Ovechkin to stay.
I haven’t seen anything about visas being pulled. It seems odd that we (North Americans and Russians) could be on opposite sides of a shooting war and still compete in the same pro leagues. Although, nothing like that happened when Russia invaded in 2014.
maybe if ovechkin was caught with some assets that were traced back to putin or some oligarchs, then i could see sanctions restrict him from travel. but i doubt it.
sports is a vanity project for putin, he likes having the celebrities around for photo ops and letting him win. but putin wouldn’t trust them to hold his cayman accounts. that inner circle is those who grew up with putin and former bodyguards/fsb agents.
