How about Ray Carruth?
Ray Lewis might make a comeback.
You should have been hoping it doesnāt get done. MVS is trash.
Itās done now

no clue how that could possibly happen, itās not like some people resigned in TB purely to play for brady there or anything, or miami has any draft capital now to trade
but itās hot take thursday out there
also remember that time the texans traded Hopkins for a 2nd round pick and a running back?
Looks like Watson dodged all criminal charges.
Next up is civil charges and NFL discipline
Well zeke got 6 games for hitting a woman, so raping 22 women should be at least a preseason suspension.
Have suspensions been given for dismissed crimes that werenāt caught on tape?
Big Rape.
Iām sure Watson is an absolute scumbag, but I canāt help being a little squeamish about the general idea of an employer penalizing an employee for allegations that didnāt result in a criminal conviction. It seems like an obviously just outcome for Watson, but it seems less good when you think in terms of random blue collar worker who gets fired for being arrested, even though charges were eventually dropped.
After putting my non-lawyer researching hat on for 5 minutes, it seems like some states offer protection against this kind of thing - California seems to prohibit taking employment actions strictly based on arrest records.
The more general rule suggests that itās ok to fire someone for conduct in the absence of a conviction as long the employer makes a determination that the conduct occurred. So it seems like the NFL would have to conduct its own investigation and conclude that there was inappropriate conduct? And if so, itās fair for them to suspend/punish the employee based on those findings? I guess thatās about as good and fair an outcome as there is.
Yeah zeke was dismissed and not on tape as far as I recall.
Ray Rice also had charges dropped. People get fired all the time for making racist statements online. The NFL absolutely should investigate the Watson claims and take action if there is strong evidence. They would be incredibly hypocritical if they didnāt.
Using arrest records is incredibly problematic as you can get arrested for nothing in this country and lets be honest would just be another form of racial discrimination so the California law is a good one.
I assume Ray Rice had his charges dropped before the elevator video came out, and then couldnāt be tried for double jeopardy or something?
I basically agree with all of this. In the case of people making racist statements online, I donāt have any issue because thereās no actual question of whether the conduct happened - the comments are observable. Iām thinking of cases where the arrest was flimsy and thereās no observable evidence about whether the conduct actually happened, and no conviction to rely on.
But if the NFL actually conducts an investigation and concludes that the conduct did happen, Iām ok with it. Meh, I think this turned out to be a very lukewarm take.
He reconciled with his wife and they basically never move forward in that situation.
With that video you donāt need the wife to comply as a witness. Thatās crazy that he still never got charged.
He got a ridiculous deal because heās rich and famous, apparently. USA
Ray Riceās assault charges were dropped. How unusual is that? | PBS NewsHour.
Caught a bit of the Deshaun Watson presser in Cleveland, and couldnāt believe he said something along the lines of āIāve always been hands on in the community in Houstonā.
Lulz.
