I assume with the minority stake, they can pull the plug on him at any time. Obviously Cuban has proven adept at it, so there is an incentive to keep him. However, my understanding is that Adelson, et al have final say and can override him at will. So, seems like an unpleasant situation for someone who was so accustomed to answering to no one.
If I had that, enjoyed it, and was already rich, there is no way I’d sell. There would have to be something I wanted even more. Not sure what that is in Cuban’s case.

I presume that in the sale arrangement they spelled out Cuban’s powers. Everything I’ve seen on it says Cuban has final say over basketball decision, while Adelson has control over the business, etc.

It also says Cuban has operational oversight of the team, but it seems they can overrule him, which makes sense as they have a majority stake. With a majority stake it would seem that any control they allow Cuban can be taken away at will.
It’s about the future, the Adelesons want to build a massive casino in downtown Dallas with the stadium as part of it. Cuban will profit off that in some way that is not entirely clear.
The team just extended Kidd and the adelsons don’t really talk publicly about the team up until now.
