Gotcha. The coach’s family had a connection to a Dairy Queen type local place. He gave out coupons for balls caught in the air. Lots of free ice cream that summer. He ended playing three years of varsity but had trouble with curve and topped out at 5-7, thus ended his baseball life other than some town ball.

My uncle always told a that I was too young to remember. Somehow I got on base at t-ball. But when the player after me got a hit, and when they told me to run to second - I tackled my own player coming around first instead.

T ball was okay, but my first year of pitch I led my team with a .762 on base percentage and I only had one hit. I almost never swung the bat so I walked most of the time.
Yeah, they’re the only two kids that look like they’ll become reliable Democratic voters.
They’ve switch to good rule. If the kid gets a walk from the kid pitcher, then the coach comes in to pitch and the kid gets 3 swings. Rather soft toss so pretty much all the kids put the ball in play.
