The NFL Thread 2: 1. T Swift

Mina is a joy.

(Although, wins are a QB stat. History will not look kindly on her.)

I don’t understand the obsession over 40 YD times. Sprinting in general but especially short distances is almost entirely about form and technique getting off the line. Most of these guys stand straight up immediately and will auto lose to anyone who has a clue.

They should make them all start in football stances, not sprinter stances

Some positions could have multiple stances to start from. Like how fast can an OL pull

He just doesn’t want to do training camp anymore.

Daniel Jones 4 years, $40m+ per year.

Also Saquon tagged which seems a bit lol even if he is a good to great RB

Anytime you can shell out big bucks to run back a 9-7-1 playoff team with a negative point differential, you’ve got to do it.

Feels like Giants have locked themselves into a 6-10 win team for the near future, unless Jones takes another big step or they somehow get super lucky in the draft.

Up to $195m over 4 years holy moly. Lamar Jackson gotta be asking for $50m/year then.

Is that RB franchise tag amount lower now than it was like 15 years ago?

The tag sort of makes sense given that it’s usually not a huge price tag for an elite RB.

QB desperation makes teams do weird things. I keep wondering when we’re going to see more teams just say fuck it and let overpriced average QBs go and try to go cheap at the position, but it never seems to happen.

Appears to have peaked in 2017 at 12.2m, at least among last 10 years:

Cowboys also tagged Pollard

Seems like it. All the guys who set the top 5 average are all like free agents now so it’s really the second tier of salaries, which has been decreasing for years, setting the tag price.

Can anyone explain how the non-exclusive franchise tag actually works? Let’s say my team already traded away this and next year’s first round draft picks. Could I sign Lamar and give up my '25 and '26 first round picks? Because that would be pretty sweet. Meteor could hit the earth or we could be in Desantis death camps by then.
