Planet of the Apes scene is in Malibu.

It was easier to find the roller coaster than the statue.

As you can see in the background of the first photo, the statue was there “in total” before they cut it in half. They used to have a US-themed area with the Statue of Liberty, a Mississipi riverboat, some Western themed coaster. There is even a restaurant in a mini Capitol building. As a boy I always though it was funny that they had a plaque commemorating a telegramm by Ronald Reagan they got when they put up the statue in the 80s.

Thanks! I was there in the summer a few years ago but the shape of the water seemed familiar. Had to go back to my pictures to double check.

I’m stumped by the flag. Annoyingly close to Puerto Rico’s, but clearly different.
