The National Football League

Can’t shit on too many of their insider sources.

I’m more pissed off at all the ridiculous comparisons to hall of famers. No that 7th round pick does not remind you of Ladainian Tomlinson mel kiper.

And most of those comparisons are just based on simple physical attributes rather than playing style or personality.

Aside from not taking a WR in the first couple days, I understand what the Packers were doing - they are planning ahead. That’s cool. If Love turns out to be good, then it was a great pick. Their two main RBs are in contract years, so they grabbed a good player in Dillon in case signing one of them becomes a problem. So on and so forth.

My problem with that strategy is they are contenders and have pretty obvious needs in what will be Rodgers last few seasons. If there is any time to try to make “win now” moves, it’s now.

In Aaron Rodgers’ career, he has thrown exactly one TD pass to a first round pick.

I can’t even think who it would be. Was it a pick-six?

Saints drafted a long-term starter at a position where they were unhappy with one of their players. Then they traded up for a player at a need position who had a first-round grade. Then they traded up for the next Jimmy Graham.

Then they signed a backup QB with enough talent to keep the team from collapsing if Brees got hurt, which is exactly the situation they found themselves in last year, and extended another QB so they could ensure some continuity to 2021 no matter what happens.

But don’t they have Brees for 2 years, Bridgewater, Hill at $10M/year and talking about Winston? Or did I get that confused?

Didn’t Bridgewater win most of his games? Why are they paying Hill $10M?

Like don’t you just ride or die with Brees and then pick from your other two potential QBs if you have to?

Bridgewater’s gone. Went to CAR.

Ok. I knew something didn’t add up.

I’d still roll with Hill though if I’m gonna pay him $10M.

If they think Hill is worth 10 million, I can’t see how Winston fits.

It is hard to see how investing that much money in QB instead of other positions is an effective cap management strategy for the mid to long term even if they could make it all fit this year.

I can’t imagine them paying Hill 10M/year if they only think of him as a gadget player. It makes no sense to me.

It should also be noted that they haven’t signed Winston yet. They only have 5M in cap space according to overthecap.com.

I’m sure sometimes they remind him of Larry Bird.

Ocho is a fucking gem and I love him even more now. I would pay money to see this. ESPN let’s go!

Packers should just bite the bullet and cut Rodgers. What a locker room cancer.

Edit: hahaha of course that’s McGinn. That dude hates Rodgers

I think this is the Saints’ single mistake. Pay Hill a reasonable salary and everything makes perfect sense.

10 Mill (assuming there is not something weird about the contract which makes its real value less) is insane for Hill. There is almost certainly no other team in the NFL that would have paid him half of that.

Apparently Winston’s base salary for 2020 is $1.1M.
