The Nashville Christmas bombing

Sure but this is a case where wanting a story creates real harm by dramatically increasing the chances of future bombings. It’s just like school shootings.

Heroin is bad for you, too, but I still don’t think saying as much is going to get an addict to quit, either.

From a CBS article:

There is video of the RV in downtown Nashville. Investigators have a Google Maps photo of the address of the person of interest that shows a similar looking camper in the yard. Google Maps says the picture was taken in May 2019.

Is this part of a group? Will more happen?

Can we blame the “other” side?

I wonder what the previous tips were about.

I think it’s natural to “want” it to be someone from the other side, if for no other reason than to let your side off the hook.

At this point it’s still possible that this was done by a cell of radical feminists or BLM activists or ANTIFA or whatever, and I want that not to be the case since on balance that would probably hurt the cause.

I also don’t want it to be some nut with an AOC tattoo trying to get her attention.

The video from inside an apartment across the street is insane. And the guy filming is either very brazen or very stupid. Probably in shock though so it’s understandable. I’d be getting the f out of that building asap.

Seems like UP beats my Twitter feed to the punch a lot these days.

If it turns out to do with white supremacy, Trump will probably say it’s about time something was done about cable service rates being way too high. Section 230!

Every White Supremacist is actually a ‘nutjob’ according to the other white supremacists. Mental illness/socialism/antifa kills people not guns/bombs/RW terrorism

Plus fondue is horrible take out so wtf is that restaurant up to in the middle of Covid.

I know Tennessee is #1 Covid champion, but are people really going out to eat fondue in pandemic?

The outage aspect is very concerning. AT&T’s redundancy should not have been so easily compromised.

Let’s revisit the dismissal of someone testing capabilities and responses later.

If we actually had a war on our soil seems like it would be pretty easy to knock out a huge amount of the wireless/internet infrastructure. Unless Tennessee is an anomaly. Knowing a lot about the internal operations of ATT, I don’t think it is.

If we have learned anything over the last year we don’t catch clues and get proactive at all, so nothing will be done to address these crazy vulnerabilities.

The backbone of the internet is extremely redundant, the clear weakness are end point connections. Same goes for the cellular networks/

Redundancy and self healing means nothing if nobody can get connected.

Since this guy went to some trouble to keep people away and he hasn’t popped up yet, it’s possible he stayed near the RV both to make sure no one came around and because he wanted to die. So the remains found are his.

The website is still promoting reservations for their special New Years Eve dinner, so, yeah, I’m guessing people have been showing up…

The building itself was constructed before the internet was much of a thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if aspects of the power and backup systems are original.
