The Future Non-Presidency of Ronald Dion DeSantis

We have to win against the evil socialist communist libs and while trump policies were generally good it’s time for new leadership

There goes little Ronnie the Rat, total RINO, listen he won’t even say the election was stolen like we all know it was, little Ronnie you were nothing before Trump and everybody knows it. You even copied my hand movements you pathetic loser

Donald, you couldn’t even beat Joe Biden

…and on and on and on - all the popcorn.

Yea this is how it goes. But the maga hat wearers are never ever ever siding with Desantis over Trump. And if you remember to the 2016 primary, fox tried the anti-trump thing on for size and it didn’t go well for them.

Right, but there were 10 guys for Trump to dunk on. The fragmented field was great for Trump because everyone else on the stage assumed he would implode and spent their time attacking each other.

This is going to be a heads up battle from the start. All the establishment / corporate money and most of the media (I would bet heavily this will include Fox) will be behind Desantis. He’s going to absolutely crush the suburban vote.

No way will it be heads up. You just posted they’re already going to Iowa. People like Tom Cotton may not get many votes, but they’ll be at the debates. They’ll have big money supporters from their Senate campaigns. They’ll have rightwing media guys backing them over Trump or DeSantis for whatever reason. If Trump doesn’t clear the field, then it will be a full 2016-style clown car. These people have big egos and they’re not gonna let DeSantis just stroll in and pick up the crown.

I am grunching this thread (and the 2024 election news in general)

But I assume the best case scenario is that:

  1. Trump runs
  2. Trump loses to someone like DeSantis
  3. Trump pouts and refuses to endorse the winner

I don’t know how likely each step is though. I guess 2 is the weak point in this plan, right? 3 seems pretty likely if it gets to that stage, yes? Especially if the winner did some shitting on Trump to win.

Best version of 3 is Trump pouts and encourages the Republican convention version of January 6 with better-armed insurrectionists.

Trump or DeSantis refusing to concede the primary vote would be an incredibly hilarious and sad result.

Absolute best case scenario is he lose the primary and makes a Trump party or whatever.

Yeah I guess a third party is the ultimate best case. Even better than say, Trump dropping dead right now

By the way, what is an eDem? Establishment?

Yeah.

The only realistic chance at dems winning 2024 right now seems to be some variation of Desantis running, beating trump, and trump running as a third party candidate. That scenario seems very very unlikely, but still more likely than a dem straight up winning in 24.

DeSantis would absolutely concede the primary vote to Trump.

Also the economy, who knows what will happen between now and 2024. But high inflation is absolutely brutal on incumbents. Its one thing that hits every demographic where it hurts. Inflation makes people ANGRY.

Not only inflation, but -20% STONKS. Suburban types that won the election for Biden are 100% bailing.

I’m superficially grouping this year’s stock market performance with “inflation” because this year’s pattern of losses across almost all asset classes in typical of an inflationary regime. But of course there are always tons of reasons explaining stock market and some of them are even true!

Why?

Because he’s not as stupid as trump and there is no upside to him to not conceding to Trump?

I think Trump not running but doing everything he can to burn the motherfucker down is better. If he tells his people the whole thing is a sham they won’t vote at all, if he runs third party then the downballot Trumpers get more votes.

Dunno, think Ds can win if Trump is the candidate though R state legislatures may rig in that scenario. Think the Ds get wafflecrushed situation is Trump not running and any non-obviously mentally ill person being the R candidate.

Trump losing a primary then running 3rd party would be juicy though R legislators would go all out on the rig in that scenario. “55% of voters went for a conservative candidate, we must exercise our Constitutional authority to intervene…in fact, God would be upset if we didn’t!”

I just see no downside for the loser if he refuses to concede. There have barely been any consequences for Trump failing to acknowledge losing the general election, what’s the worst consequence for DeSantis is he starts pushing out stolen primary election derp?
