The Expanse (with spoilers and other sci-fi cameos)

Odds the Marco has the protomolecule hidden somewhere or transferred off before that ship was exploded?

Seems like he had warning and he’d be beyond pissed if he lost it.

With that discussion on the Rocinante about its destruction I think that likelyhood has gone up a lot (and has probably been high all along).

btw, this is the only weekly-show thread I post in. Are spoilers required on the day after the new episode aired or is it understood that people don`t check the thread until they have watched the episode?

This is a spoilers ok thread afaik. Enter at your own risk if you are behind.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this episode. Naomi thing dragged on so long. I get what tremendous effort it took but I’ve seen the swim into the flooded submarine compartment over and over done in less than half the time.

What’s with the heavy floor grates? Even if it’s magnet based once she breaks the seal it shouldn’t slam back down.

They owe us some serious action in the last two season five episodes.

I’m more convinced the protomolecule is out there. Saw online speculation that it was in one of the missiles launched at the Rocinate and was programmed to go dark or hide behind a rock or something. It’s the McGuffin of the whole series, can’t be destroyed.

I have very high expectations for the next two weeks. There is a commercial

showing Marco ordering drummer to attack the Roci

S4 felt like a waste, but the ending was promising. High expectations for S5.

Really enjoyed season 5 finale. Drummer fast becoming my we 2nd favorite character after Amos.

The show feels like it has to establish every other episode that Amos is a psycho who will kill people at the drop of a hat.

Unless the actor had other shit to do, I don’t like that & how they killed off Alex. I didn’t even understand that he died until Naomi was crying about him. That said, the first half of the season was probably my favorite stretch of the series. Loved that they split up the crew into different stories (their dynamic was getting kinda stale in S4), little to no deus ex proto molecule stuff, and a pretty epic sneak attack by Marco.

Felt it slowed down too much at the start of the second half, and while I found the last two eps mostly entertaining, they underdelivered on the intrigue with the rogue Martian general, kinda lame they’re punting all of that to the next season.

Over all, I have S1>S2=S5>>S3>>>S4

40+ women accused the actor of sexual misconduct :expressionless:

Lol I guess that explains it, had no clue

Not so much other shit to do, but lots of shit already allegedly done by an impressive number of allegers.

Definitely a post prod write off.

Edit: My photo-finish pony deserves a better write off than Alex got. No tears shed, don’t care that his death is clunky. Much better than a recast.

It’s the big question of what can prevent those prone to violence to control those urges.

Something from psych class 35 years ago…

Fear of punishment (penal model)
Religion/ morality (yeah right)
Family/friend. (Holden in this case)

Seems like there was a fourth.

Anyone know what the F I’m trying to say?

Mating?

I think that’s fits the family friend thing- not wanting to disappoint.

I should withdraw my stupid post but I will leave it for humility or humiliation as y’all see fit.

Its fine I fucked up my joke anyways!

Binge-watched the season now that it is fully released. Didnt really enjoy all that family drama around Naomi. I wont even bother reading the book if it is similar. After the last episode the season feels even more like huge cliffhanger for the final season. You already know when you see the actors. Tim deKay as Admiral Sauveterre getting just few minutes over 10 episodes. Nah didnt think so.

And the Admiral is dead (supposedly).

Is that what happened at the end ? I wasn’t paying enough attention and didn’t know if that was something like that or just standard ring teleportation.

Anyway I agree with others that second half of season was a letdown. In general I feel that the shifts from macro to micro in this show are very frustrating (e.g. end of s3 many worlds are opening but s4 takes place in a very limited location, in s5 the guy who just managed to murder millions then has an elaborate plot to kill 2 ppl…). I understand that this is the nature of not mega budget tv shows but still…
