I didn’t realize it but apparently bad things can happen going thru the gate from the “protomolecule builder killers”. In the book and several articles online.
Too bad, I was looking for some weird shit to happen between the Admiral and the Lieutenant.
I heard so many good things about this show but could never bring myself to watch it for some reason. Tried once and didn’t get passed the first episode and gave up.
Recently gave it another go and binged all 5 seasons in like a week. No idea what I was thinking before but this show is fucking elite.
Bummed season 6 will be the last. Show should go 9 seasons like the 9 books.
Such a bummer the actor who played Alex ended up being such a scumbag. He played that character so damn well.
So did the protomolecule destroy the Barkeith on its own? Was it the people who killed the builders?
The ring gate turned into the same color of the portal as the one Milller threw himself into to stop the protomolecule, I feel like we will see the builder killers be apart of this episode in a big way.
Did Marco have anything to do with the Barkeith being destroyed?
Ah that would be hard to pull off in a TV show. As far as I’m concerned they can break off and do their own thing because the show is just so good that they don’t need to follow the books going forward.
Just seems like way too much to settle for one season. Deal with Marcos, Mars faction, and the builder killers.
Then again nobody wants another game of thrones, so maybe its for the best.
Not a huge fan of this season, too much Drama not enough SciFi for my expectations. Next season looks promising based on the ending of S5, since it looks like the S6 will feature more of the protomolecule mystery
Hah, we are opposites in terms of which we prefer. It was too much Naomi for me, really drilled it into us what an effort it took to survive. We get it already.
Leviathan Wakes is the start of an epic space opera series known as The Expanse, a series that has exploded in popularity since that talked-about debut. Critics have hailed it as a new form of classic space opera, complete with a well-built world, a rotating cast of interesting characters, and a killer story. There is plenty of action, and a deep exploration of how humans will act when we leave our own world for new ones. But more than that, it was selected by the Syfy network as the flagship of a new programming lineup designed to win over the same crowd that pushed the reimagined Battlestar Galactica to new-classic status.
How The Expanse evolved from inception to the present day is a fascinating tale, one as improbable as it is exciting. Originating as the concept for an epic multiplayer video game, it became a roleplaying game, a novel — then three, six, and finally nine books — and finally as a TV show, the series has taken a most unconventional route from concept to publication.
I’m reading the books out of sheer boredom and man they are just not good. I don’t get it. I guess this is what passes for pop fiction nowadays but there’s just nothing to them and they jump from plot point to plot point. I’m through 2 and there has been zero character development or backstory exploration of anyone other than Holden and a little Amos. Weird stuff.
I really like the universe and overall storyline, but I haven’t recommended the books without the caveat that the characters are a bit lacking and stale. That’s fine if you know what you’re getting into, but it’s not ASOIAF in space. It’s unlikely to appeal to people that don’t already read a lot of sci-fi.
They do delve into other characters a bit more in later books and the novellas, but it’s just not what is driving this series, at least for me.
Grunching to avoid spoilers. Not sure what drew my attention to this recently but I started watching on the weekend. SciFi not usually my thing (don’t know if I’ve watched anything other than Star Treks and BSG) but I’m maybe 6 eps in and enjoying it.
