The beer, wine, and spirits thread

You have to try #7…altbier’s are delicious.

Skipped over that one somehow. Agree that should be on the list. Would kick out 15 for it if it were me.

I’m going saison first.

Happy Friday, even to the hazy IPA fans and citra haters.

This is pretty good.

Altbier is pretty mediocre in my opinion, thought maybe my opinion is shaded by having too many friends from Cologne area

Super Sap by Treehouse Brewing.

(American Double IPA, 7.9% ABV, 16oz) Super Sap is intensely kettle and dry hopped resulting in an immensely hop saturated beverage! Don’t be fooled by the name- Super Sap pours a hazy yellow color in the glass and emits aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, papaya, and Hawaiian punch tropical fruit drink. The flavor follows suit with pulpy grapefruit and orange notes balanced by a soft pine-like bitterness and fluffy mouthfeel.

Pretty fun beer. Super funky and citrusy at first and then finishes surprisingly bitter for a Treehouse IPA. Given the recent IPA talk ITT, this could actually be a good bridge beer between pungent NEIPAs and beers with more complexity and nuance.

Im at this fancy all inclusive resort and realized i dont have a go-to pool drink. So far tried moscow mule, mojito, mai tai. Nothing really caught on. Give me your recommendations ill drink till i pass out. Nothing revoltingly sweet (like mai tai apparently).

Not much experience with “pool drinks”, so not sure if be much help. I’d just tell the bartender what you said here and ask him/her. They could probably come up with something neat.

Painkillers, or if the bar is decent then I’ll also go for Margaritas. Don’t like Margs that are sweet, so if it’s a shitty Marg using a shitty, high-sugar mix then I’ll stick with Painkillers or even tequila sodas with lots of citrus.

Im in turkey and complicated conversations with the bartenders are not an option

In that case, I’d say give a Paloma a shot.

Just get whiskey or a beer you p******

Tbh id say the same but since becoming addicted to ipas im too spoiled for the miller/corona/heiniken offerings. I did knock down some coronas today like its spring break 2004.

Whiskey at the pool in 90+ degrees is too manly for me.

For pool drinks I usually like the ginger beer based ones. I prefer a “dark and stormy” to one of the “mules”, it’s just ginger beer and dark rum and lime.

My other mantra is to have a glass of water in between every alcoholic drink. This is good advice in all situations, but at a beachy/pool place it’s especially important. Nothing kills an all inclusive vacation like a brutal hangover.

Ain’t nobody got time for water at an all inclusive.
Just plan ahead and bring some of those insect vitamin B12 patches and you will never be hung over regardless of how drunk you get.

Important update - gin basil smash is a great pool drink. Depends on the bartender it was gin basil lemon juice simple syup and cucumber blended with ice.
