The 2020 Republican National Convention: There will be blood. And soil.

I was expecting eventually someone insisting statistics/math are racist here.

Some numbers are racist. 88.

ABG.

Always Be Grifting.

She’s always wanted to be as powerful as possible and convert that into wealth, I would imagine.

They call him a “little brown boy” in interviews to media while saying blatantly racist things about his future. What do they call him behind closed doors when he’s out of earshot?

Do you seriously not get why that comment is racist?

Just in case we have any lurkers who don’t get the point we’re all making on this and are missing the sarcasm, if you pull up crime data you’ll see higher rates of crime from people of color. But if you then adjust for income, you’ll see it even out by income level.

In other words, a black and white child raised by the same family in the same income bracket are equally likely or unlikely to become criminals or violent. To state otherwise is to attribute this behavior to skin color, rather than socioeconomic status.

People of color commit more crime per capita because they are disproportionately poor, because this country has systematically made it so, dating back to our original sin as a country through to redlining through to the injustice of the criminal justice system all the way to just plain old fashioned discrimination.

The strict father morality approach on full display

Instead, she pinned the blame for the mass incarceration of Black people on one thing: At its root, she said, it’s due to “bad dads.”

“I believe the primary reason that we see a lot of the illness in our society today and one of the reasons that we’re seeing a lot of what’s happening today in our society is because of fatherlessness, because fathers have not stood up and they have not taken their place in the home and particularly in Black homes,” said Johnson, who claimed later on in the video that “70% of these dads are walking out on their babies.”

The stereotype that Black men make poor fathers is frequently deployed when critics seek to blame Black people for the lack of racial equality in U.S. society. But while public debate continues to swirl around the question of “missing Black fathers,” Michelle Alexander, author of the “The New Jim Crow,” a seminal book on racism in the criminal justice system, has pointed out that fathers who are missing in action may be found in prison. One in three Black men born today can expect to be incarcerated at some point in their lifetime, according to the Vera Institute.

“Hundreds of thousands of Black men are unable to be good fathers for their children, not because of a lack of commitment or desire but because they are warehoused in prisons, locked in cages,” Alexander wrote in “The New Jim Crow.” “They did not walk out on their families involuntarily; they were taken away in handcuffs, often due to a massive federal program known as the War on Drugs.”

:expressionless: lets restate what this guy says:

“My brown kid, while raised in the exact same household and income level as my white kid, is more likely to be a criminal.”

This literally couldn’t be more racist.

Not sure what level this is on, but if you are being sincere then you are a definite racist whether you understand it or not.

personal responsibility tho… lol :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face:

edit: joking obviously but if you deploy this argument with conservatives, it will be “well they shouldn’t break the LAW!!”

100% agreed, but this isn’t the best framing. “Adjust the data for income levels, and the crime rates even out” just invites people to try to refute that.

Instead, the person arguing there is some difference in criminality should be forced to lead with their hypothesis.

“Explain to me your theory about why black people are more likely to commit crimes [asshole].”

After one or two iterations of “and why do you think that is?” they’ll be in openly white supremacist territory.

I remember Abby Johnson. She was way into abortion. Found herself on Last Week Tonight looking like the piece of shit she is. She makes two appearances.

Can the UP Twitter account tweet at Gavin Newsom asking him what he saw in Kimberly Goebelsfoyle? Like I’m genuinely curious to know his thoughts on her, how he ended up marrying her, and she goes from him to a Trump.
