The 2020 Election: Delaying the Inevitable

With the Allegheny 38k not being counted till tomorrow, looks like we aren’t going to get a call today.

The thing that worries me is the slow pace of counting. They were pretty fast on Tuesday and yesterday, so why is it so slow now? Is it because there’s just not much left anymore?

I think (and also hope) you’re right. The ballots cast minus ballots counted, always equals ballots remaining in the PA’s numbers, so to me that demonstrates that they recognize everything they are calling “cast” and “remaining” to be valid for counting.

Stop. He’s still drawing to three inside straights in a row.

Let’s not panic yet. We just need Arizona to hold which looks super likely + one of PA/NV/GA. Nevada should be in the bag. I realize no one wants 270-268 but that looks like the worst case scenario to me.

Yeah I just ran the same numbers and I feel a lot better now. I think Biden is even winning most “red” counties still to come because it’s all mail.

The naked ballot thing is so so so dumb. I assume the reason for rejecting them is because they think a ballot not in the privacy envelope means it could have been tampered with. But that doesn’t make sense.

If some stole someone’s blank ballot to fill out themselves AND had their mailing envelope, they would almost certainly also have the privacy envelope. It literally makes no sense that someone could have tampered with a ballot, not have the ballot itself look suspicious, have an intact, valid outer envelope that can be sealed, BUT not have the privacy envelope.

It’s literally throwing someone’s ballot out for failing to follow instructions.

Yeah we are fine so long as those numbers from 1:30 are still the numbers and not, say, inflated another 100k or something because the include everything that’s been counted since 9 this morning…

Because it feels like it is supposed to have happened by now, and the fact that it hasn’t feels like it increases the likelihood that it won’t.

I’m not sure. I’m not going to explain this eloquently, but what PA counties show as “counted” always shows up in the tabulations. The numbers always tie. There’s no gap, or discrepancy that would lead you to believe something has been “counted” by a machine, but not reported out.

Yeah… after 4 years of the Trump era the most surreal thing about this is that it feels like gravity is being restored after a weird period where it was switched off for some reason.

Yup, when I started calling game in PA hours/days/feels like a month ago, I was basically looking at 90-10 in Philly, 75-25 in Philly suburbs and Allegheny, 60-40 in a few of the swing counties, and 50-50 in the red counties. I knew that was a very safe estimate and we were extremely unlikely to do worse than that.

We’ve been winning the red counties - some not even narrowly, and meeting/beating my expectations everywhere else. The only thing that could get us here is if they are somehow including naked ballots int he total outstanding count THEN tossing them. I’ve seen no evidence of that.

Otherwise, unless they were off significantly in the number of ballots remaining, we’re fine. I was never basing it on the 500K when the site said 370K. That made me happy we were going to run it up bigger, so I celebrated it, but the fact that it wasn’t ever 500K never scared me off my confidence in winning the state.

I hear you, but when we do get near final tallies on basically any place in PA we’re waffle crushing what we need to win. I think we’re just looking at state officials fucking up the messaging really badly and making us all miserable.
