Summer LC thread

That’s a gorgeous picture. Which side/area was it taken from?

Take care of yourself, we live in dark times and it’s important to maintain our health both mentally and physically.

Thanks. I took it from Mohave Point on the South Rim. We were on the North Rim for a few days but had no luck with the usual monsoon storms that come this time of year. Plenty of luck on the South Rim though.

The old forum is straight up full of whataboutists covering for the guy who killed 20+ people today, great fucking work, WN:

I have friends that have been married for more than 20 years with 2 kids now and they are still going Dutch and keep track of whose round it is at the bar. It is the wife that likes it that way and it comes down to not feeling like she is a strong woman if her husband pays for her. It has nothing to do with who gets the money if they would split up as she would still be entitled to half of their assets. Doubt she would take his money though except to take care of the kids,

How?

For real. This makes Pro Boards and PHPBB seem ancient. I only go back to 2p2 for Celebrity Death Pool. Nothing else.

@unstuckpolitics twitter is up and running, please follow, RT and like if you are so inclined.

The trio of Deshaun Watson, Elijah Mcguire, and Chris Carson going off on me in the championship week. Went 11-2 during the regular season losing Chiefs bye week bad, and some other fluke week where team went off against me. Oh well, thats one game scenarios for you.

Yeah just want to second all the thanks for the people who got this forum up and running. Site looks great so far on mobile although I do miss some of the Tapatalk features.

I had been on a little break from politics but seeing everyone in here makes me want to dive right back into the despair!

Random thought: there may be no better place to be stood up on a date than a jazz bar in New Orleans.

i love the zydeco bands there. Tempted to buy a full washboard suit just from shows there. George Porter Jr. from the Meters may be playing somewhere around there, he does often. Hit that shit up if he is. Tipitinas is a great place to see shows also. The place just got purchased by the band Galactic (Stanton Moore is one of best drummers alive).

This might belong in the hot take thread, but outside of Los Angeles and Brussels, no city has disappointed me more than New Orleans. Absolutely no desire to go back.

New Orleans is the greatest city in the country after NYC. Culture, food, history, art, music, nightlife are all elite

Terrible take. When were you there? For how long? What’d you do?

Most disappointing city: Venice, Italy. Too hot, stinky and full of cat poop.

Don’t remember exact date. Definitely post-Katrina. Maybe fall of 2013?

Was there for a conference, then a few days on my own after that.

Walked around Bourbon St/French Quarter for a bit on a Friday. Walked around the same place the next morning. There was lots of vomit from the night before that the people were cleaning up. Did a riverboat lunch cruise and then went to the casino. I won one hand in 4 hours and broke even.

Not even sure what I did the last day, but I must have been pretty bored, because I went back to play poker. Came out much more ahead that time. The players were absolutely terrible.

The food was really, really good. I will give the city proper credit for that. The music too. But couldn’t find much else to like.

Some cities just grab you. I can understand why people love New Orleans, but it’s just not for me.
