RFID could also be wired from the reader back to the control room. Only the reader to the card needs to be wireless - and that is apparently pretty hard to hack w/o some kind of targeted card reader antenna that would be obvious.
But I like the idea of cameras and you show the cards on the screen. That way there’s no chance of the booth faking the cards - as might have happened at Stones. Probably more expensive though.
No one posting in a forum or Twitter thread is going to provide any kind of finishing move that drops this guy. This is a job for professionals, not Twitter hacks. Looks like the players who were cheated wised up to that and got counsel.
They cannot confirm nor deny if there is an ongoing investigation. But they clearly are weak compared the Nevada Gaming Commission. And assuming like the rest of CA state politics - utterly corrupt. So I wouldn’t expect much.
Agree, I was none to pleased about the idea of RFID chips in cards.
You’re not wrong, but for once, neither is Matusow. Slowrolling is shitty in general, but it’s even worse to slowroll someone whose food and rent depends on poker. I know how awful and personal it can feel to get slow-rolled in the middle of a big downswing (and let’s face it, Matusow is probably in a downswing most of the time lol). That said, it’s part of the job; a pro should be able to deal with being surrounded by scumbags (which includes slow-rollers) all day err’day. That’s why I sometimes consider getting a real job, where I’d be working with like-minded people rather than being around insufferable poker players and degens all day.
I’ve learned to expect a slowroll until the cards are mucked, which makes me immune to it now.
how to make a dealer hate you in one easy step. fuck that guy. chops are the fucking worst. It’s the most work of any other type of hand, they’re slow, and we usually get ZERO tips because…it was a chop and nobody made any money. Add his fucking slowroll on top of it…oh man, I’m getting hot just thinking about it.
It’s a tourney so tipping isn’t in play. His slowroll took about 5 seconds and I thought it was funny when it happened. The other guy wasn’t pissed but I could see where he might be.
after my rant, I should add a disclaimer. in low buyin tourneys and cash games, if there’s a river bet on what’s obviously going to be a chop, I usually leave the bets in front of the players to save myself some work. I also start stacking after the action is done on the river, even if they haven’t shown their cards yet, because I hate wasting time, and I’ve played enough poker to know when it’s gonna be a chop.
Wow, really? I’d say over 2/3 of the time in the games I used to play in, both players tip $1. It’s probably more like 95% in my main game now.
If you don’t already, announce who is getting the extra $1 when you finish chopping it. I think you’re more likely to at least get $1 from that player. I’ve seen some dealers push the even amounts to each player then toss the extra chip separately and announce why that player gets it (position in 99% of rooms). They get the extra chip tossed back pretty often.
Another hand he has QT vs KJ preflop 3-bettor on Q9x board. Turn comes T and he just slumps into his chair - presumably knowing he can’t fold now and he’s hosed. Instead of re-raising and trying to get value from KK-AA he just calls 2 streets.
if you don’t want to watch 6-hour streams where Joe Ingram breaks down every hand, Polk has been doing shorter 1-hand videos ~10 minutes each. you can really pick any of them and see it.
My first programming job was for a company where our boss’s key skill is being able to explain complicated statistics to juries. Our clients were basically the tobacco and auto industry.
Not a bad skill to have. 2/3 of the ~30 person company are millionaires. He’s an ex air force pilot and his “toy” is a fighter jet.
