The only thing that possibly makes sense is since they have so many other side podcasts now they want to cut back and do even more of those. Even still cutting your biggest show by 1/3 seems like a bad business move by ESPN.
Golic and his son are horrible. Notwithstanding the only reason his son got a job with ESPN…
After listening to them for over a decade from back when they were just local and the transition along the way, I’d guess Dan and Stu wanted to work less.
I went from listening to 100% of the shows to about 70-80% before the quarantine. Listen to less than a third for now, really looking forward to Amin adding to his Phoenix history tomorrow on the pre-hour tho.
You guys might already know this, but I’ve heard elsewhere that Wingo hates working that early for daily radio.
It’s really funny you say this because I was taking to my buddy who works in their finance dept. and he texted me literally the same exact thing about Trey doing early mornings. I don’t blame the dude at all. Up at 3am to get to Bristol for 430am pre-show meetings. I’d voice my displeasure over that too.
Edit : A little more insight he said was that the top brass wanted to stop going down the road of the expensive contracts to the on air folks. And about the Dan/Stu one fewer hour is that some people there are still upset Dan does so much politics and not enough sports. Which is just fucking mind-boggling to me as Dan’s whole shtick is to not to talk about sports when running the most popular sports radio show in the country.
Cricket is back, baby! Of course a wee bit of mizzle is enough to delay the start of the days play by 2 hours.

So Ivy league cancelled all fall sports. They were also the first to cancel their conference basketball tournament.
welp
Foiled. Vacation.
Nice piece in the guardian on todays coverage of the cricket:
“You can’t understand the history of cricket without understanding the history of empire. You can’t appreciate the rivalries between these, and other, teams, without appreciating the relationship between our countries, what’s been given, and what’s been taken.”
“You can’t understand the hostility of Michael Holding’s bowling without understanding what made him so angry, you can’t appreciate Frank Worrell’s grace as a captain without knowing something of the prejudice he faced, you can’t value the violence of Viv Richards’ batting without a sense of what he was fighting against.”
“Holding continued, live on air, with an extraordinary monologue that took in everything from the recent video of Amy Cooper threatening to call the police on a black man in Central Park who asked her to put her dog on a lead, to the historic representation of Christ as a white man, to the erasure of Lewis Howard Latimer (the black man who perfected the lightbulb) at the expense of Thomas Edison. Holding spoke about research at Yale that revealed the extent of unconscious bias among pre-school teachers and he spoke about research by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology that showed how white policemen invariably overestimate the age of black children.”
“It was eloquent, intelligent, and confrontational broadcasting, fiercely uncompromising stuff for an audience who were tuning in because they wanted the comfort and relief of live cricket, of cakes and sunshine and sixes.”
MLS is big time BACK
They are flopping like there’s not even a plague
Their first touches are heavier than Trump
Lol Miami player used his hand to direct the ball into the net. Unfortunately he was caught.
Is that not allowed?
Miami is never going to win a game ever
So it’s just like football or baseball.
The city of Miami has quite a few titles if you go back far enough and count every sport!
Lincoln was a Republican.
How many sports will still have local video blackouts despite no fans?
I hadn’t paid much attention to San Diego’s new USL team until recently, when my friend got picked up to be their team psychologist. For those who forgot, this is Landon Donovan’s new project, he’s co-owner and manager.
So they are returning to play soon, and their first game back they’ll be wearing these. Mind you, this is a team that is brand new and could have easily not done this to avoid pissing off potential new fans, but they did it anyway. I am now a fan.
