There’s a boatload of guys who wanted to get into the NFL but just weren’t good enough. I can’t imagine lack of talent being an issue.

I gave up in baseball in ‘94 but I don’t understand this astros mess. It is going to totally destroy the next season given the way they have handled it.
That’s what I mean. The nfl can’t field 32 competitive teams so I don’t know why there is reason to think there is talent for 8 more. Fortunately, there are 8 more teams worth of fodder to feed to the CTE mill of pro football.

It’s all bullshit, Pete Rose did less to affect the integrity of the game than most of the Astros and he got a lifetime ban. Astros got a slap on the wrist.

I just don’t know how they are going to punish the pitchers who throw at their heads when they literally ruined careers.
Anything short of taking away the World Series was to soft IMO.

Yeah this is really right. This was really really bad. The Astros should lose a World Series, the owners should probably be forced to sell the team, and every player/manager who even tangenitally knew about it eats a lifetime ban IMO. Anything else is too low.

He’s a legit comparison here. I agree that Pete Rose deserved what he got, but that does make it pretty obvious the Astros deserved the same treatment.
Rose isn’t a legit comparison because gambling was explicitly banned for over 60 years by the time punishment was handed down.
The reason nothing’s happening to any Astros player is MLB gave them immunity if they admitted to the scheme during the investigation.
I think Pete both deserved what he got and deserves to be reinstated.
I also don’t think the Astros cheaters deserve lifetime bans. But they at least deserve whatever the current penalty is for coming up hot on a piss test is, which is more than the nothing they received.
Well then it’s even more evidence of Manfred’s abject incompetence.
I mean, was there even a punishment here? A fine that amounts to pocket change and suspensions for the manager and GM who were always getting fired anyway once the investigation ended. I mean it’s not nothing, but it might as well have been.

I have felt a lot better about that season since this broke. That loss was so soul crushing. After that epic game 5 and win in game 6 to stay alive. Game 5 was probably the best game I’ve ever seen (even though dodgers lost). At the bar I was at everyone looked like they wanted to kill themselves in game 7 by the third inning.
I owe an apology to darvish and all the other pitchers I cursed during that game
