It’s wild to me that anyone outisde the US watches baseball. Look, I love the game, but it’s boring as fuck.
Then again, there’s dudes who play cricket at my local park every Saturday, so who knows.

I love it. I don’t think it’s boring at all.
Then again, I’m the guy watching to see if the catcher backs up the first baseman on a grounder to SS with no one on base.
There’s a lot more mental game to baseball than other sports, it’s really a chess match between the hitter and the pitcher. It’s the biggest US sport where body size is largely inconsequential.
It’s crazy how much is boom or bust. Within that strike zone alone if a guy is looking for something different, they don’t have time to react with placement and speed variations.
That being said, I don’t really watch it anymore. Gambling has broken me and I can’t gamble baseball bc it’s impossible for me to handicap w/ any certainty due to the randomness of the game.
It’s maddening that your team can get nine hits and score two runs while the other side gets two hits and scores four or five.
I guess that’s the appeal for some people.
Stuff like that evens out over an 162 game season. Would you quit watching football b/c one team had 30 first downs but lost b/c they also had 2 turnovers that lead to defensive touchdowns? Shit happens. It’s sports. It’s why we watch.
Seriously guys. You realize the only reason why we watch sports is because of the possibility of the upset? Like, if the favorite won every game 100% of the time, there would be no reason to watch or engage.
Red Sox fans older than 50 are living life b/c the Yankees blew a 3-0 game in 2004 playoffs leading in the 9th with 2 outs. This shit is what fuels sports. Same w/ the Giants beating the 18-0 Patriots in the SB. The Rays this week had a better playoff experience than the Lightning.
But hey, it’s maddening you can get 9 hits and lose. But the appeal!!!
I told you it all ties into sports betting.
And I watch sports otherwise bc anything scripted bores me ftmp.
And baseball is much more random than other NA team sports (along with hockey).
That’s why ML dogs are never that big compared to football or basketball.
That wasn’t that huge of a shock.
Brady had a hurt ankle: https://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs07/news/story?id=3217171, and was going against an amazing front four who could get pressure w/o blitzing (same story in '12). They also played them in week 16 and NE won 38-35.
Pats beating the Rams was a bigger shocker.
Jesus hockey has really already started?
This is the kind of shit I never forget:

Salad-throwing Doug Davis beat the Yankees at 35 in a year he went 1-7 w/ a 6.50 ERA and 1.86 WHIP, the year after going 1-4 w/ a 7.51 ERA and 1.983 WHIP.
It would be like the Chiefs being stymied by an all-game prevent D.
Baseball is the only team sport where trying harder can be counterproductive (hitting).
The Ringer started a limited series podcast on luminary about the Super Sonics. Looks interesting but I don’t really want to pay for podcasts.

I might wait until next month to get my free trial and listen to it all.
Yeah.
I’ve been thinking about signing up to listen to all the Rewatchables '99. Free trial is two months.
Yeah I want to hear that too. I have to double check I thought it was only a month.
Plus I lie because I paid for a year of stitcher last October to get some podcast archives but that was like $30.
Ted Williams was elite at three totally different things: Hitting, fly fishing, and being a fighter pilot.
Williams did not opt for an easy assignment playing baseball for the Navy, but rather joined the V-5 program to become a Naval aviator. Williams was first sent to the Navy’s Preliminary Ground School at Amherst College for six months of academic instruction in various subjects including math and navigation, where he achieved a 3.85 grade point average.
Williams was talented as a pilot, and so enjoyed it that he had to be ordered by the Navy to leave training to personally accept his American League 1942 Major League Baseball Triple Crown.[141] Williams’ Red Sox teammate, Johnny Pesky, who went into the same aviation training program, said this about Williams: “He mastered intricate problems in fifteen minutes which took the average cadet an hour, and half of the other cadets there were college grads.” Pesky again described Williams’ acumen in the advance training, for which Pesky personally did not qualify: “I heard Ted literally tore the sleeve target to shreds with his angle dives. He’d shoot from wingovers, zooms, and barrel rolls, and after a few passes the sleeve was ribbons. At any rate, I know he broke the all-time record for hits.” Ted went to Jacksonville for a course in aerial gunnery, the combat pilot’s payoff test, and broke all the records in reflexes, coordination, and visual-reaction time. “From what I heard. Ted could make a plane and its six ‘pianos’ (machine guns) play like a symphony orchestra”, Pesky says. “From what they said, his reflexes, coordination, and visual reaction made him a built-in part of the machine.”
One of the baddest men ever. Then at the end he’s feeble and being abused by his son.
If you live long enough, we all go out like we came in: weak and defenseless. Circle of life stuff.
