So how do we get into this game on a profession level?

I’m in for money. But we don’t want to just give to Fair Fight? I trust Abrams.

I think there’s easily a podcast or two or three in that group.

(Also I’m pretty sure me and @anon10396289 have a Sopranos podcast in us similar to Binge Mode but it would probably be a bitch to swing logically as they have the backing of The Ringer and we, well, don’t but that’s beside the point)

Also the podcast market is so supersaturated now I’d honestly feel better about investing my money with you guys in a restaurant in the middle of a pandemic than a podcast.

At least half of this is capapulting us into the game. It’s very obvious they need new mid level shot callers. Like all of us tell ourselves that someone else is going to do it… but nobody did the last two cycles. I’m done trusting the prestige path kids who aren’t good enough for Wall Street or Silicon Valley to win these races.

It’s this. They aren’t waking up, they aren’t figuring it out, and nobody else is stepping up to do it. It’s us.

I think Abrams is all about voter registration rather than the dark arts we are talking about here of turning Rs social media tactics back at them.

Yeah were not talking podcast. We’re talking about being in the game not trying to influence it from the press box.

A 501c4 might be better. Dark money doesn’t have limits.

Any group raising more than $1k for a candidate has to file as a PAC and the process is fucking annoying.

Doing this without someone well versed in election law might be asking to get Jacob Wohled.

It’s a very niche area of law. I do have a friend in DC who works in a big firm that does it for the GOP. I literally know nothing about it and I would guess the vast majority of attorneys know nothing also. It isn’t a class you would be likely to take in law school and it isn’t on bar exams.

Don’t have anything of substance to contribute as of right now, but will be following this thread and am hoping that something positive can happen here.

I’m in for stuff. I offer grunt work and philosophizing. I’d like to get a thread going on Messaging / Information War game theory and strategy, books, articles.

This is a great initiative. Wish I could help, but I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.

I just want to know if this is the politics equivalent of “we should buy a bar!”?

Not really, I don’t think anyone’s in this to try and make money.

Unrelated: HAY GUISE WE SHOULD TOTALLY BUY A BAR TOO

I mean if we do it full-time, we’ll make good money at it imo, but that’s not the motivation and we’re not going to be grifting our donors like Lincoln Project.

I mean if it becomes a K Street outfit it can make quite a bit of scratch.

One thing to think about is that just because an issue impacts polling in a certain way doesn’t mean it impacts the votes in that same way.

Example: open for business vs shutdowns might poll nearly even, but everyone for the shutdowns was already voting Biden no matter what. A lot of the OFB aren’t normally voting, and they might have been activated by the issue.

We should search for issues like this that cut the other way.

In a polarized environment, politics are almost entirely about turning out and expanding your base and suppressing and shrinking the other base. There is no middle to go after.
