There are several reasons why posters may not vote in a poll. The specific reason for Suzzer is that he has ignored the creator of the poll and so can’t see it without changing his settings. Some might say that he should change his settings if he wants to vote in the poll, but it’s not clear to me why he should have to go through an extra step to participate in governance of the forum, especially since posters are frequently urged to use the ignore function to avoid counterproductive squabbles.
So it is a valid point to make, but he could have done it in a more neutral way.
You make a fair point, but this discussion bothers me. There’s a massive difference in severity between ‘I have this guy on ignore’ and Churchill shit-talking suzzer’s trip to Panama. The latter is so much more personal and offensive. This discussion seems to put them in the same category, and while I appreciate the idea that people can be easily harassed into oblivion, those two posts are massively different.
Do we earn a get out of jail free card if we never did it, or is this a Subshop Keeed punchcard situation? Every tenth extra ‘e’ and you earn .5* hours off your ban.
If you assume this, then basically any reaction to any sort of insult is reasonable, and I just can’t agree with that. That’d allow me to get as mad for being called an asshole as a minority would be for being called a racial slur.
The fact that there’s a difference between them is the point. The one prompts the other. He brings a knife, you bring a gun. The responsibility for a mutual escalation doesn’t lie with the last person to have escalated.
Where in the world have I said that I know how suzzer feels about anything? This doesn’t seem like an honest discussion so I’m out. It’s not really relevant either to SK being mod either, so apologies to the group.
My understanding, from multiple posters now, is that when you have someone on ignore, and they make a poll, unblocking them does not allow you to vote in the poll. Is that incorrect?
Perhaps suzzer had no such thought. I don’t know. I think it’s quite obvious that a lot of “I have blank on ignore” is a personal attack. I’d think you’d recognize that as you are attacked that way a lot.
