I’m self-imployed and I hire a radio each week from the firm that allocates the jobs, I pay separately for insurance and have just paid my 2nd quarter so that’s OK.
At the moment I share a vehicle with my cousin who does the day shift so we’ll be OK for the foreseeable future because it’s very possible that we can get some sort of delivery work. Shhhh🤫 mum’s the word + I might get to do some of the contracts at night.
Worst scenario I assume is not being able to claim benifits for 6 weeks to 6 months and the Government does not provide a bailout for the self-imployed in which case we’ll sell the Vehicle and move on.
Atm I’m good for housing rent as its a local council and I’ve never been late…
I go with my dad all the time to the hospital when he’s in for heart surgery and I always walk around the grounds… Easiest way for me to pass that time.
NPR went out of their way in their story earlier about NBA players getting tested en masse to say that the tests are performed “by a private company, at the players’ expense” so I guess everything is fine
The delayed and chaotic testing in the United States will cost lives, potentially including those of doctors and nurses, many medical experts predict. Already more than 100 people have died overall, and fears of rampant spread have led to extraordinary restrictions on social interaction, upending the U.S. economy, schools, hospitals and everyday life.
“It makes me feel like I’m living in a farce,” said Dr. Ritu Thamman, a cardiologist and clinical assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Even hospital staff who may have been exposed can’t get a test, she said. “We are a rich country but we don’t have these kinds of things?”
Welp, a prop at another casino in SoCal just died. Breathing problems on Friday, heart stopped yesterday. In his 60s.
We will never know if this was coronavirus. But it was coronavirus.
Just before the casinos closed down he told another employee that the flu was worse and everyone was overreacting. But nobody deserves to die, except Trump.
I just got home and turned the press conference on. WA should be taking more aggressive action given we’re the epicenter. I heard the nursing home where it started is up to 35 dead. Not sure why we haven’t shut things down more aggressively.
I got off the phone with both of them at once, this is just fucking terrible. He’s really scared and clearly wants her there to say I love you and give him a hug before he goes in. Understandable. So I’m going to go down Sunday to their house to spend some time with him, probably wear a mask, and definitely take all social distancing precautions.
Monday I’ll meet them at the hospital, we’ll both give him a hug outside and wait in the parking lot just in case. Once it’s over, we’ll get a call and we’ll head home, she’ll pick him up Monday, and we’ll take it from there with the other medical problems.
He won’t make the appointment to check on the unexplained weight loss next week, he’s doing it 4/1. He doesn’t think doctors/hospitals are ever going to be overrun and shut down, I can’t convince him they will. I warned him that even if it’s serious, he could go months without treatment and he should try to get in there as quickly as possible. But, it’s his choice and I pushed as hard as I could.
