SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

You see that, right, that’s what I’d have said if I knew all that stuff.

Would really be nice if were contact tracing and such. It’d be nice to know if anybody is getting this from random too-close encounters in supermarkets or stores, or if it’s all closer contact than that. Would also be nice to know if anybody is getting this from touching something an infected person has touched…

Yet the same day as the WHO warning, the Trump administration announced that it was transporting to China nearly 17.8 tons (more than 35,000 pounds) of “masks, gowns, gauze, respirators, and other vital materials.” As Secretary of State Mike Pompeo noted in the press release announcing this shipment, “These donations are a testament to the generosity of the American people.”

I have some 50 odd words tumbling around my head to replace “generosity” in that sentence.

New Orleans shooting for herd immunity. Yikes.

I wish these students could afford to tell their coaches to bug off.

Damn 5 people died of coronavirus today here in the Czech Republic. That’s bring the total up to 16. Fifteen were either over 70, had a chronic illness, or both. The latest one was a nurse working at a hospital in Prague.

Tragically, the nurse died at home rather than being treated at the hospital. There’s very little known (not even gender or age) but clearly something went wrong. I’m telling ya there are few people in this world with more courage than frontline health care workers right now.

Anyway, the government extended the lockdown another week which was totally expected by me. They’ll probably do it again in another week. This isn’t getting any better here though thankfully it isn’t getting that much worse either. Worse, but not completely out of control worse.

The government also stated that they probably won’t open the border this summer. I’ll have to hope that government offices open long enough for me to get my residency card so I can leave and come back if I need to. But that probably won’t happen.

I also find it highly unlikely that I will be going back to teaching this school year. Pretty frustrating as teaching online is pretty shitty.

But can you teach online in your boxer shorts?

If we had a proper software package to do it, I’d be fine with it. But we’re pretty much making due with what whatever’s out there.

Anyway, I’ve been sleeping crazy weird hours and that needs to be fixed.

This alone should be impeachable. They should have been ordering as much as they could at this point. I guess add it to the list.

Having same issue. My hours keep shifting worse and worse, which is a bad pattern for me.
