Madrid makeshift morgue:
Yes, I agree 100% with everything you wrote. My only point was that in many areas of the country, we see social distancing benefits already for those colds/flu with a shorter latent period. Which hopefully also ultimately results in a slower transmission rate for CV-19.
Those replies though… I guess I shouldn’t be, but I was surprised by the number of people claiming she’s faking it (for whatever reason?)
She’s politicising healthcare, seems to be the general vibe:

I saw this a couple of days ago about the drug gangs enforcing their own quarantine:
I thought it was interesting considering the previous discussion about bandits. Better not be a hoarder. Better be acting according to the golden rule.
I believe there was a similar article posted up thread about the mafia in Italy doing something similar…
Because it would have been very unpopular, thus flouted.
100,000-200,000 Americans could die - Dr Fauci
The coronavirus outbreak could kill 100,000 to 200,000 Americans, the government’s top infectious diseases expert warned on Sunday.
Dr Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN’s State of the Union that millions would be infected by the virus.
Dr Fauci, a leading member of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force, added, however: “I don’t want to be held to that … It’s such a moving target that you can so easily be wrong and mislead people.”
Reading Comprehension for the win! I said AMERICAN deaths in the Iraq war. Since we were talking about AMERICAN deaths from COVID, in the context of the political ramifications to the American elections.
With that said, if you want to do worldwide numbers, then yes, absolutely, worldwide we’re going to exceed the worldwide casualties from the Iraq War to everyone pretty soon too.
Edit: But whatabout Malaria, amirite?
There were over 50 million deaths worldwide by the Spanish flu, possibly closer to 100 million. That was with 1/4 the current world’s population. This is not as severe, but more contagious.
You’re still not getting the point about your American exceptionalism being akin to neo-Con thought, where the only deaths worth talking about are American deaths.
Cliffs: a small company with a government contract to build cheap, portable ventilators in case of a pandemic ended up building zero after it was bought by a large medical device company, possibly to preserve its profits from selling full-priced regular ventilators.
The gangs are just government. Bolsanaro is more worried about his keys to power (industry) and the gangs need to protect the sheep they shear and probably worry about the army coming in.
Deja vu. I’m pretty sure this conversation has happened before, but with something else where covid is here and maybe involving you and jman.
Deja vu is a thematic feature of the covid quarantine, I fear.
How do I break a $20 without going inside a store or making human contact?
You’re the one with reading comprehension problems. Jalfrezi knew exactly what you meant and was making the point that you care more about American lives than other lives. The fact that this wasn’t immediately obvious to you makes Jal’s point.
