SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

The guillotine is quick and painless sharp or dull - maybe we should be considering other options.

Executions by Beheading
Death by beheading with the use of the axe could be a terrifying prospect. The executioners often took several blows before the head was finally severed. If the executioner’ axe was sharp and his aim was true, beheading was quick and relatively painless. If the instrument was blunt, the axeman inexperienced or careless, then the execution might take several strokes to sever the head. This was certainly the case in the execution by beheading of the brave Countess of Salisbury who was struck eleven times with the axe before she died.

and then there’s

… the barbaric method of slowly killing by inflicting unimaginable pain was by ‘Hang, Draw and Quartering’

President Trump’s coronavirus claims - fact or fiction?

The US has seen a significant rise in coronavirus testing - more than doubling the total in the last few days. According to the latest available data, the US has now tested 540,252 people- that’s almost one in every 600.

But this is still some way behind South Korea, which has tested the most people per capita - about one in every 140.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has coronavirus

Mr Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus, Downing Street says. His symptoms are mild and he will continue to lead the government response to the virus while he self-isolates, a spokesman says.

Fair chance the rest of our Corona Task Force may have it!

Do you have backcountry areas? In the US we can still go to back country areas. I’m thinking about heading over to Big Cypress this weekend to do some back country camping, just to get out.

Oh Boris! And wtf US

He should be in full pajamas with a floppy hat with fuzzy ball on end.

It really depends on his location. There are at least some parks where you can camp and not interact with anyone. I mentioned it in my other post, but Big Cypress National Preserve has places that I can drive to, hike out and find a decent spot to sling up my hammock tent, and then come back home the next day without having to interact with anyone or even be within 50 ft of another person. Only issue would be stopping for gas, which doesn’t seem to me like a big deal as long as you are careful/responsible. Seems like that situation wouldn’t endanger others. I could be wrong, though.

So obvious, but how is it not a follow up question every time he spouts it? I tend to believe the majority of journalists in that room are intelligent, competent people. But why the fuck do they never pushback on his bullshit?

I literally don’t understand.

Because treating someone with trouble breathing with opiates that decrease respiratory function will allow them to blame the death on the opiate crisis and deflate Covid-19 mortality figures.

Stable and Genius, chessmate libtards.

On Diamond Princess a sizable percent of the positives were first asymptomatic, but many eventually developed symptoms and the final numbers of asymptomatic cases resolved at about 18%. They said this should be higher in the general population because the DP passengers skew older.

So it could be that many recently tested in Iceland are freshly infected and not yet showing symptoms.

If you’re interested in the search for a vaccine, this Guardian long read article might keep you occupied…

Yeah, the risk is probably low if you are actually isolated in the park and acting responsibly on your way there. But not everyone is, most people would probably at least stop for meals etc on their way. We are all better off if we minimize any unnecessary trips for now, so imo it’s completely understandable that they’d shut down campgrounds.

Some weird version of the opposite is happening in Ohio. Republican governor Dewine has handled it very well. Most are very happy with him. But the hardcore trumpkins are starting to rally against him, especially his Health Director who he is mostly letting call the shots. Closet liberals obviously.
