Wasn’t Thailand one of the first places to get hit after China? I’m sure they aren’t testing much, but there are still lots of 2+2ers there and I haven’t heard anything about hospitals being overrun or anything like that. Maybe there is some hope in certain climates.

Hmm. Perhaps. Unlike most events, the consequences are immediate (I.e. not global warming) we will have multiple runs of the experiment (states, countries, etc) and we get immediate feedback.
Over and over again we will have examples of what works and what doesn’t work.

Cases popping up now likely represent people infected a week ago at the least, very probably longer. It’s not certain that hot weather meaningfully stalls spread, but it’s a decent bet imo.
Bickering over price on machines that will literally save probably tens of thousands of lives while at the same time bailing out Boeing for like 20x the amount of money. What the fuck.

In the US? I doubt it, but I hope so. Ten million+ already infected is the only hope I have left. If that many are infected 1 million plus are already as bad as they are going to get. That makes hospitalization rate <1% and death rate <0.1%. Plus we will be done with this in a couple weeks.

If tens of millions of Americans already have the covid that would be very very good news since that would imply a much lower death rate than 1-2%.
