Hospital shortage definitely not letting up. In anticipation of receiving my RZ masks I donated my four N95 masks to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (along with the two boxes of gloves I bought). Guy in my neighborhood is a doctor there and they’re already rationing.
Am I reading the data right that NY seems to be no longer experiencing exponential growth? For the past 3 days the number of new cases has been about 5k each day.
Cuomo said hospitalized cases have gone from projected to double every 2 days, to 3.x to 4.7 in the last few days. He said it’s almost too good to be true, implying he’s waiting for more data.
I wish every state showed new hospitalized cases like NY. Very useful info.
I’ve considered if I should buy like 10 more jerry cans, keep them full of gas, and try to make it to my sister’s place in the Denver foothills where half her neighbors are preppers.
But I figure the odds of a) no gas, but b) somehow roads still open enough I can make it w/o getting stopped by govt roadblocks or road warriors is a fine needle to thread.
Mr. Cuomo highlighted data that showed slowing hospitalization rates. On Sunday, the state’s projections showed hospitalizations doubling every two days, while Tuesday’s estimates showed them doubling every 4.7 days.
“That is almost too good to be true,” the governor said, “but the theory is, given the density that we’re dealing with, it spreads very quickly, but if you reduce the density, you can reduce the spread very quickly.”
It’s also encouraging how quickly they “contained” Westchester.
There was encouraging news from Westchester County, where the rate of infection has slowed. “We have dramatically slowed what was an exponential rate of increase,” Mr. Cuomo said. “That was the hottest cluster in the United States of America. We closed the schools, we closed gatherings, we brought in testing, and we have dramatically slowed the increase.”
To be fair, we’ve been pretty well locked down in NY for longer than the average incubation period, so it’s not unreasonable to expect that we may be starting to see some positive developments. That said, i realize I may be grasping at straws.
I don’t think I ever had more than 10 bullets at a time playing through The Last of Us, so you should be quite fine surviving the apocalypse with just 20 or so.
I haven’t kept up with this thread for the last day, so this might have been posted already, but mental health is going to take a larger and larger role in this and I think this interview/article is an excellent place to start.
It’s so clear now, seeing the stages of grief people are in while dealing with this. Perhaps some understanding will help.
Really hopeful we are seeing a real tide change in New York. It would be amazing and would be a testament to the actions taking, even though people would soon start saying it all was an overreaction and nothing needed to be done.
Fortunately for me I do not care what those dumb people think and instead just hopeful as few people as possible are impacted medically and economically.
