Same. My partner has a gun but it is locked in a box and I don’t have the key. If I’m in a situation where I needed a gun, I’ll arm up with the only two guns I carry kiss kiss while she locks and loads.

Just got the text from Kroger about items from my order that aren’t available. Some can be substituted. The one’s that can’t:

romaine lettuce
rye bread
bagels
cranberry juice
OJ
jasmine rice
fettucine
frozen french fries
broccoli cuts
ground beef
stouffer’s enchiladas
hamburger buns
swiss rolls
roast beef
chicken breasts
plain greek yogurt

Yikes. Guess I’m going to Publix tomorrow morning.

Also, enjoy this small look at my family’s diet. I do remember frozen pizza being on the shopping list, so maybe that’s tonight’s dinner.

I’m lucky that my employer has been well ahead of the state in first giving us the option to work remotely if we chose to, and then making it mandatory well before the state itself went into lockdown mode. (I think because we are located near Biogen probably raised the concern level up a notch or two.)

My mask came today so I will be making my first foray out to the pharmacy and grocery store in a while in the near future. We have had a few small deliveries without too many missing items though.

My university didn’t give the offer to work from home until a week and a half after they canceled classes. Meantime someone in my building tested positive and was being tested while we were still at work. Fucking bureaucracies.

Everyone was terrified about the big shindig on Friday 2 weeks ago with finger food and hobnobbing. So glad I skipped it.

Your RZ mask? They haven’t shipped mine

Nice weather in the Midwest, everyone is outside. Very few making any effort at social distancing. People here are annoyed they can’t live life normally and don’t think this is serious at all.

People never want to interact in person until they aren’t allowed to.

I ordered my Dad 3 N95 masks a month ago. And had 3 shipped to me as well (before I knew there was a huge hospital shortage - but maybe that’s letting up?). I guess his got there and mine still say April 29th. Crazy. Also Amazon doesn’t seem to know his arrived. Weird.

I bought 2. The only ones left in stock had flames on them.

So the Guy Fieri skin of face masks.

WH working the diplomacy at these important times…

Pompeo deepens US-China row

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the G7 group of big economies have discussed China’s “intentional disinformation campaign” on the new coronavirus during a virtual meeting.

He says all the leaders were aware of the campaign, which, he says, Beijing continued to engage in so as to deflect attention from what really happened.

The Trump administration has repeatedly alleged that China was and is suppressing information about the coronavirus.

President Trump has called it the “Chinese virus” – angering Beijing and ignoring World Health Organization guidelines.

Mr Pompeo said the world needed transparency and accurate information from China in order to fight the pandemic.

Some Chinese officials have suggested that the virus was brought to China by the US military.

Mr Pompeo dismissed that as “crazy talking”.

He also appeared to dismiss China’s sales of medical supplies to combat the pandemic, saying Beijing was now trying to claim that it was the “white hat” (showing moral leadership).

Hey! For those of you that have considered purchasing a gun - this company makes a kind of concentrated pepper gel spray that shoots about 12 feet, and you can get the decontaminant in case somebody unleashes it accidentally.

Disclaimer - the company sent some samples to me because I’m a security consultant. I have them stashed by my front door and in our bedroom. I haven’t used it, but have used the “training” device to see how well they fire and they work well.

Anyways, don’t buy a gun if you’re prone to depression, but if you want something to protect yourself or your family or home, I think it’s a good product:

They are running out of test kits and the ingredients to make them. One of the articles said NYS ordered hospitals stop testing people who aren’t hospitalized, including health workers.

His pony probably trusts Trump for Coronavirus info

Yes. I think you linked it here and I grabbed one on Saturday morning. It just came today. (I paid for expediting though.)

There’s a point at which violent break-ins go up so much that the risk of dying from one > the risk of the gun being used on you. Whether or not this hits that point, who knows? But I think roving armed looters stealing food in a food shortage probably qualifies. Obviously extreme caution has to be used in securing any gun in the home.

Yeah I don’t think you’re going to hold out from roving gangs for too long. But for lone desperate looters a gun could come in handy.

It’s pretty easy to use a tree to climb up to my balcony. If I saw someone doing that I could show them a gun and get them to run away. Most likely just my presence would do the same thing though.

I went and met my dad halfway between where we live (about a 1.5 hr drive each) to have him throw my childhood gun which is a 20 gauge pump shotgun in my trunk with 3 boxes of shells. Told him i was giving it back as soon as this is over.

Society would have to be utter mass chaos for people to rob random houses for food. (Other than here and there) The supply chain would have to be 100% broken down.

An organized gang isn’t gonna target the lady across the street because she has extra pop tarts. They are gonna hijack a truck on the way to Publix from the distribution center.
