SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

Now a days they’d probably just try to rub as much of it on their hands as possible. Then again, they might try to drink it, then it works even better.

Thanks. But there aren’t that many old people who both need help and are willing to accept it. It’s all I can do to get my m-in-law and her 96 yo husband to let me do anything at all for them. My daughter and I just pop in with some stuff, but they aren’t placing the requests we try to get for what they want. And I’m not out doing it for people I don’t know.

So they’re willing to risk their lives to get my Spanish Rice-a-Roni? I’d gladly give them some if they would ask nicely.

I have 20 bullets for my hunting rifle. I told my GF if I have to use 20 bullets WAAF anyways.

Trying to do science stuff from my apartment, it’s not really working out too well.

Me too. I knew my wife would veto but floated it by her anyway.

The truth is, as a recovered alcoholic and addict with a history of suicidal ideation, I really should not have a gun. So it’s for the best.

LFS,

Glad you didn’t purchase a gun.

This situation doesn’t change the fact that a gun in someone’s house is more likely to be used to hurt someone in that household than it ever is to actually protect anyone in your household.

No one should own a gun who isn’t planning on using it for hunting only and keeping it safely locked away and out of sight at all other times.

I considered this aspect, having dealt with depression and knowing we’re likely headed for absurdly depressing times, and it’s part of the reason I initially decided against it… When I thought more about the risk of break-ins, I decided a shotgun was probably the move. I’d never use it on myself and it would provide adequate defense.

This situation could change that fact, IMO.

I really don’t believe it does and I don’t think it’s a particularly responsible message to be spreading. Just my opinion.

Just another glimpse into the southern male factory worker:

My production line lead (not my boss thankfully as I’m in quality control) was talking to my qc partner and I, he was going off about how this all “hysteria” and how the no one bitches about the flu and when I brought up the poor 7 month old who is really sick downstate replied “Lots of kids get sick the only reason you’re talking about it is because they have corona”

…to be fair this is the same leader who when I reported another employee for saying LOUDLY that all gay people should be shot had the response “well he shouldn’t have said that but I can’t say I disagree with him”

France reports 231 new deaths

France says the number of coronavirus deaths has risen by 231 to a total of 1,331.

The total number of confirmed cases is now 25,233 - they include 2,827 people who are in a serious condition requiring life support.

The French death toll is so far only counting those who have died in hospital. But French authorities say they will soon have figures for deaths in care homes, which could result in a large jump in the overall number of fatalities.

May be one day the WH or States could let us know who they are including in the death toll? I think I believe Cuomo, if the stats don’t go to WH before release.

Trump’s gonna learn there are more than 148 countries tonight… ‘so many countries’

Anyone know when tonights shit show commences?

What a dick

Posted this on LinkedIn today after seeing some Trumptard posts.

My opinion on opening things back up (saw several folks giving a thumbs up to the Easter idea) People of different political views can have their opinions, but the simple fact is that the VIRUS is currently in control and doesn’t care about us or the economy.

When thousands per day are dying in America (early april), fear will keep people home, especially if its happening locally. Read the history of any epidemic. Opening up without thorough testing and tracing is insane. We need to know who is shedding and who has antibodies and no longer shedding. Regional mobility has to be extremely limited. First companies go back to work with only the on-site staff that is necessary, then we monitor for some time (2 weeks?) then we bring more folks back into the work site IF the data supports that. We are a long way away from mass gatherings like sports, schools, mass transit, and worship services.

I think what is missed is that the economy will suffer as long as the virus is running its own course wreaking havoc and death. What markets want to see is a plan to deal with the virus. What markets need to recover is the result that we are in control. That we can monitor and short circuit any flare-ups. Stay safe. Stay sane

Tributes paid to British diplomat

Steven Dick’s parents said it was their son’s “dream” to work for the UK Foreign Office

Family and colleagues have been paying tribute to 37-year-old Steven Dick, the British diplomat who died in Hungary after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

Mr Dick’s parents, Steven and Carol Dick, said he was a much-loved son, grandson and nephew, who was “kind, funny and generous”.

The UK Ambassador to Hungary, Iain Lindsay, said he had worked with Mr Dick since last October.

I figured something like this was coming. CA had that order that 65+ stay inside which lasted a day or w/e until it became everyone stay inside. -

Gonna suck for the youngs who get it and die but shurg emoji.

It would be badass if my work said 50+ can work from home until this is completely over. One time please. 55+ would blow chunks.

Can’t wait for all the stories about some dumbfuck gun owner shooting their teenage kid who was trying to sneak back into the house after curfew.

Terrance McNally was someone whose name I vaguely recognized as some kind of writer, but the first famous person that I truly recognize who has succumbed to COVID-19 is Top Chef Masters season 3 winner Floyd Cardoz.
