SARS-CoV-2: Electric Superflu

For a young healthy woman you can talk to her over the phone and send her some pills in the mail. There is absolutely no medical reason for this. None.

Edit: I guess they didn’t disallow the non-surgical ones. So, I’ll give some points back to OH.

Oh, I assumed he just suspended actual procedures to clear bed space, not that he suspended that kind of thing. I don’t disagree with you.

Yeah, my bad. I think those ones are still OK.

AG sent letters to two standalone clinics that do women’s health. Not like these are places that would be used for COVID-19 pts. It’s absolutely not a bed space issue. Maybe conserving PPE and preserving physical distancing for non-essential things.

I’d be fine with postponing the ones that are postponable, but not all are.

That sounds… bonkers. How about wiping your face with an alcohol-dampened cloth instead?

Some positive news out of Italy: The rate.of new infections and the rate of new deaths appears to be slowing: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2020/03/22/coronavirus-latest-news/#link-MT6SGJRPP5FAPAFDYFAAS7REAE

It did that before a few days ago, then started going up again.

I would have my eyes closed… confused about cleaning the mask with a cloth though… seems like spraying alcohol would just guarantee everything is dead.

I think they need to go ahead and cutoff South Florida and New York the way they did Wuhan and put the whole country on national quarantine for the next month.

Lmao I like the “umm it’s the fastest growing cable news network, it’s like the new fox news”.

Imagine saying that And thinking it’s a good thing

How frequently do you expect to use the mask? I plan to use mine less than once per week, so I think (although I’m not sure) that just hanging it for over 4 days between uses should ensure the virus is no longer viable by the time of your next use.

Ohio just issued a stay at home order starting tomorrow at midnight.

I’m concerned about the taking it off part if the virus is hanging around or stuck on it. I dunno, I am not sure what they mean when they saying “wearing/removing a mask wrong” increases your chances…

WHO advice is you don’t want to be touching your face when taking mask on and off (touch mask only, wash hands for 20 secs after removing mask)

OK so obviously if this is the case it would still be a huge net positive for everyone to wear masks 100% of the time they’re out in public.

But here’s my question: if masks prevent sick people from breathing out contagions, won’t they also prevent other people from breathing IN contagions? Yes, there are other ways to get infected (get virus on hands, touch eyes or nose?), but isn’t breathing the virus into the lungs the biggest threat?

In other words, there’s just no way that a non-sick person isn’t safer with a mask.

Ummmm, abortion is not at all an elective surgery. Not getting one could permanently change or damage a person’s life

Killjoy. But yeah, you’re right, for a forum of ex poker players we should be more careful about variance.

Yes - but people generally want the security of N95 if they’re really trying to protect themselves.

80% effective is great if you’re trying to knock down the spread of germs going out. 80% effective is not so great if you’re trying to prevent germs from getting in. But still better than nothing - as long as you don’t think you’re invincible when wearing it, which is one of the concerns.

Also there’s the whole “it will make you touch your face more” thing. But that just feels like BS to try to stave off a mass mask-buying panic. Which as we’ve seen - Americans love to do.
