Hello everybody! I’m a guy who has lurked these boards for like 15 years, going way back to the days on 2p2 during which everybody actually played poker. Finally reckoned I should create an account.
I am out of food and the earliest I can get groceries delivered is next Tuesday. I’m wondering if it would be better to get a food delivery now to tide me over until after midnight, i.e, the time during which I typically go grocery shopping, or if I should just go now to the presumably jam-packed Wal-Mart and roll them dice. I say this as someone who has some mild anxiety around crowds during normal times, and as someone who has no material with which to make a mask or gloves or what-have-you.
Went to Wal-Mart at around 2AM a week ago and it was … alright, although in my haste to get out of there I forgot one of my bags which had like 5 frozen pizzas. In any case, I clearly didn’t get enough food!
And if you’ll allow me to vent a bit, nobody in this area is taking this remotely seriously. I play chess tournaments and the local tournament director is still holding events almost daily. He has made fun of me for telling him I’m done coming to his club for a while; even outright calling corona “hype” as of 2 days ago. All these rubes are still going to his events, shaking hands with each other as is customary at chess tournaments, etc. We have a state championship which was cancelled; he was giddy because he thinks it will mean much greater attendance at his club!
TILT. I was thinking about him as I created my screen-name …
I have no social media accounts so I’ve been needing to get this stuff off my chest, no pun intended, for a minute. Sorry I’m so long-winded!
You can always try a 7-11. Wear a mask (or bandanda or w/e) and gloves, get in and out quick. Shower, change clothes and wipe everything down from 7-11 and that you touched before showering. I just can’t imagine that’s very high risk.
My sister’s hospital has an entire floor devoted to covid patients. They told her today that her and other pharmacists will have to respond when someone codes/is dieing on that floor. They aren’t allowed to use PPE though because they will be right outside the room not inside the room, but still on a floor filled with covid patients.
My mother and stepfather were at ATL earlier this week coming back from Belize. They experienced the exact same thing from the other direction. Two+ hours in a maze of rope barriers.
Good call, this Wal-Mart is now closing at 8:30! I assumed it would still be 24/7 given how blase everyone is acting. Might try CVS first, it’s a little less existentially depressing to me than Wal-Mart. But then again, sick people are likely to go to a CVS …
Got this today for my cousin’s wedding in Cancun in June:

Do a YouTube search for ninja mask + t shirt. You can easily make a mask without damaging a t shirt. Seriously going to wear one next time I have to hit the grocery store.
My family is in the middle of planning a move and our realtor keeps emailing us that we need to put in an offer now because no new inventory is coming lolololololllll gtfo lady.

My friend’s wife is a social worker at a hospital and he just told me someone in the lobby sneezed near her and this person has coronavirus symptoms and was going to the hospital to get tested because someone they knew had tested positive for coronavirus, and if that person from the lobby’s test came back positive she has to quarantine for the next two weeks.
