It’s probably worse in a store since there are a ton more people breathing into the airspace. The shit is supposed to be viable for hours in the air.
Yeah but it settles and you’re only breathing that air for a few minutes.
You seem to like to argue with me constantly but this one is probably the most inane yet.
8 hours in a conference, sitting cheek to jowl, shaking hands like crazy, eating lunch together, talking in small groups, sharing pamphlets, picking up stupid swag, going out to dinner together, drinking into the wee hours together. Probably a few drunken hookups. For days. It’s like Coachella for viruses.
Come on man.
The Biogen “conference” was a management meeting. I think one day. Probably not too many drunken hook-ups within the leadership team.
And I argue with you about the same amount as you argue with me.
In any case, I’m going to continue assuming that China isn’t stupid and act accordingly. You can take the Italy approach if you like.
China still has grocery stores open and restaurants where you can get take out.
And yet, they’re doing better than Italy. Obviously the best response is South Korea. But China is still light years ahead of what the US is doing.
The best response so far has been Singapore, but it’s a tiny city-state with shitloads of money and an authoritarian government.
So want to use my one time

Outside of Wuhan, where there was much less risk because they contact traced every case. I believe inside Wuhan everything was locked down tight. Food was delivered to each residence. If I’m wrong and you have a source than I’ll readily admit it. But that is my current understanding of what it took inside of Wuhan.
Inslee about to talk, expected to STILL not do even a shelter in place
China’s first reaction was to lie about everything and stop doctors from telling people about the disease. Their response was widely criticized by the global health community. The people of China can’t get reliable public health information from the government because they know it lies to them all the time.
Sounds familiar. Perhaps this should be called the Chinese American virus.
Not sure I agree with this. It seems the initial China response sucked. And everybody seems to be saying it’s because the stupid authoritarian govt wouldn’t listen to the doctor in Wuhan and it got out of control.
However, once China realized what they were dealing with they went to fucking work. Absolutely unbelievable what they were able to accomplish. (Unless the numbers are all lies, which I suppose is a scenario that we’re drawing live to considering they do lie a lot.)
Meanwhile our authoritarian govt had 20 times the information available and several months warning, and has laid a giant mother fucking egg. The most humongous egg. Just tremendous. If this started here instead of inside China, we would have had countless more dead than what happened in Wuhan before we even admitted we had a problem.
Last day probably where we don’t have the most new cases. Good times!
welp, apparently, according to the CEO of my husband’s employer, making drones is “essential” and they aren’t being told to work from home unless they can.
Building MQ-9s is not essential, you fucktards.
Apparently, there’s also a culture in my husband’s department (program management) that resists change, because the leadership is a bunch of stubborn assholes who don’t want to be seen as pussies or whatever.
Fortunately my husband is a smart GenXer who listens to his wife, so he grabbed all his shit from his work office yesterday and brought it home to set up here.
He’s also going to be working on his resume so after this blows over, he’ll be looking for a new job. I am gently working on him to get out of the defense industry, as program management skills are needed everywhere. I’m sad because before this shit hit the fan he was just getting started talking with some folks about joining a startup to compete for grant money to invent a portable, mobile way for the disabled to take advantage of ridesharing, public transit, and self-driving tech, which is way more beneficial to humanity.
just to repeat for the ether: BUILDING MQ-9 DRONES IS NOT ESSENTIAL! argh
Poor Charmin Bear isn’t a recognizable enough mascot for them to leave the logo off the shirt.
WASN’T recognizable enough. That’s the point think think
They seem pretty essential to our normal plan of liberating the fuck out of a country or two whenever we face a hard domestic situation.
How else are we going to get that sweet Andromeda Strain footage of people dead in the streets?
