This really shows a lack of discernment in who you are dealing with.
This makeup of posters is drastically different. Maybe not to you, maybe not to others, but in truth it’s a very different situation.

No I think when posters drop a controversial topic it’s usually a tacit admission that the other side at least has a point. It’s not like he’s afraid to be combative in other situations.

I do think there’s a subset of pol posters (I am definitely one, d2 comes to mind, fly 100000%) that just like to troll morons and be able to call them morons. That’s totally fine as long as it doesnt take over a board, and for that shit, that’s what the thunderdome is for.
Why right wing section? been asked this already, because I think UP made a huge mistake in gatekeeping those that only agree with us lockstep. We immediately excluded several annoyances from the old place. The old place, however, had some okay-ish heels for generating discussion. Ikes back in the day generated a lot, and although he was aggravating, he was good for the discussion and quite honestly is a very good poster now still. So I know they are out there. I just think it’s inherently silly to call yourself a political discussion board and then very tightly control what types of discussions are allowed or tolerated by that community.
If you want that, you got your left wing board (and whatever subsets you need to make there, whether it’s centrists vs progressives or whatever) or whatever to be your echo chamber.
just some thoughts. almost certainly not popular here but I do find it a little silly, as I said, to try to gatekeep what topics and views are discussable on a discussion forum, unless it’s outright hate speech.
