RFC: Permanently Ban Churchill

Those of us who saw the PMs know what was going on.

Our. Forum. There. Was. Nuked. This is not the same at all.

None of us were chasing around MM or MS and sending them abusive posts/PMs, as far as I am aware.

I agree, I tried!

I don’t know if it’s too late to try again, but amnesty and a clean slate for previously banned posters should be part of attempt. (Why, yes, I do primarily mean Sabo.)

I think a clean slate would be be healthy for everyone and the forum as a whole. Would there be arguing? Yes. Would it be better than it is now? Absolutely. I just don’t think you can convince those that have left to come back.

Trolly McTrollson has multiple posts in 2p2 Politics & Society in just last 24 hrs. MrWookie has posted there multiple times this year. Goofyballer has posted there in last year. Seems like 2p2 still has an active politics forum, and some not all of the UP regs ITT still post or lurk there, albeit far less frequently. Not unlike some posters here post or lurk less frequently of late in UP due to moderation dramas, real or perceived.

Anyway… What is your purpose in constantly referring to the Council of Captains drama of past if not to drudge up more drama? Who cares if some UP posters post elsewhere. There are multiple invite only discords involving various subgroups of this community.

Yeah who cares about profanity or attack rules. They are different by platform, and generally explicit. I am not talking about that here, I believe you know that, I am talking about subjective post qualities that do not explicitly violate a term of service.

Again, on what grounds would Sabo be banned on any other platform? Or Churchill.

I wouldn’t try to convince those people to come back, but I would give them the option. When I talk about a clean slate, part of what I’m talking about is the carrying on of grudges from 2+2. Some posters have expressed dismay at the presence of CaffeineNeeded based on his previous persona. I can’t remember if anyone went so far as to say me-or-him but I think some people were at least close and felt that it was a betrayal of tribalism and the reason for trying to build an online home here to be forced to coexist with him here.

No one has ever proposed banning regs who don’t blatantly break rules. We are discussing the guy who’s been banned 18 times for blatant rule-breaking. Or more generally, how to reduce forum drama.

I don’t even understand what you’re talking about. What threads?

Warnings, followed by progressively-increasing bans, followed by perma-bans for people who keep doing the same shit over and over. Kinda the same basic rules every other online community I’ve seen runs by.

So you want the moderation of this place to more mirror Twitter or Facebook? Do you think the current mods are doing a bad job?

Like we aren’t talking some edge cases. We are talking about a guy banned over 20 times and another who had over 60% of the entire forum vote to ban them.

That’s irrelevant to what I said.

Because we are for some reason discussing Sabo’s permaban, and it was relevant to that as I explained. I think nearly 10 people brought up Sabo ITT before I got involved in that discussion.

I don’t care if anyone posts elsewhere. I do care if people only post here to try to troll this place and interfere with it.

our world was torn asunder into hollow Hemispheres

Sorry @churchill.

I like the idea of a running approval rating for everyone in this forum.

Yea that’s fine I just think it’s disingenuous to refer to iron as center-right when presumably he feels that Obama >> Romney, just like I think it’s disingenuous when Jal or Vic refer to us as centrists or republicans.
