i’m here to explain the internets to you old farts. you’re welcome
You must have seen some of those absurdly technically good 13 year old guitarists who can play the solo from say Since I’ve Been Loving You note perfectly (though a little lacking in feeling)?
Are you a Rufio fan, by chance?
- Congrats on calling your position so assuredly!
- A while back a good friend of mine was a huge fan of Rufio. Fun to see the name come up again.
It’s not really a youtube culture thing, imo. It’s a musician thing.
Never heard of them tbh.
I guess I’ve seen links to those things when I’m looking up songs for walrus, but my youtube usage consists of watching videos linked by friends, walrus, and as mentioned in the obscure things threads, watching talent show auditions.
It’s the same way I approach shopping. Go in, buy what i need, and GTFO.
oops, ponied by a 9 year old drummer lol.
Well, now I’ve upset a little girl, there will now be break whilst I clean my son’s puke and settle him back to sleep. Fucking kids!
Ah ok. I sometimes look for favourite songs on YT and see where it takes me.
Just remembered the poor little guy is actually sick hence the hospital visit - hope he is ok goatnitski.
I just assume that all roads on YouTube lead to QAnon, so i don’t even try.
Thanks! I had a bit of trouble with this category and another one so I just submitted “song I’m familiar with.” I am admittedly not that into Rufio anymore but I always appreciated how fast they play their instruments.
Yeah that is what he was always raving about. He played guitar in a punk band so I guess that aspect of their stuff had extra appeal to him.
I can see how this ended up where it did, but that sure was fun to watch
He’s fine, this is just what happens when you demand food off your parent’s plate at tea and extra milk before bed.
Emergency not totally over, but will do what I can. So, that’s songs I just plain didn’t like out of the way. Don’t imagine that’s of comfort if you’re up next, though.

Lemon Jelly - '88 aka Come Down On Me
(Drums: -)
This is the one I feel worst about ‘reviewing’ because I mostly didn’t really hear why it’s submitted for the drums. It’s the only song I at times tried to work out the beat of and when and how it changed, just because it sounded like the same few bar sample for most of the time unless I paid very close attention.
I do quite like the song, it reminded me a bit of Death In Vegas who I used to enjoy, and the way they build it up with layered samples is nice. But the drums just seem a small part of that with the best work elsewhere.
I dunno, I feel bad. As I listened I usually felt it’d be safe in mid table but it didn’t work out like that, and now I worry my drum disagreement is hurting it too much. Still, that’s the category. Sorry Lemon Jelly, I’m perfectly fine with the song—I just like other stuff more.
I feel less bad now because this song is sweet as hell and also got the nodium. I like the drums in it and probably would have submitted something on this tier anyhow (song I like with somewhat distinctive drum sonds).
This was me, and no problemo! The nodiums make you appreciate the podiums!
Yeah, I know this next statement is probably going to explain a lot - I just really don’t “hear” the drums when I listen to music. Like, of course I hear them, but I can’t think of a single song I could go to and be like “I love this song, the drums are badass”. So I tried to find a song I thought was in your wheelhouse, and then see how I felt about the drums in it. So there are some spots about midway through where I heard the drums more clearly, it sounded kinda fun to me, so I hit submit and hoped there was something technical going on
