Resilient Rexx Keeps On Keeping On

I adore beets. I have some seeds soaking as we speak. Will be planting later in the day. Yum.

Possibly a kg is water weight but I’m still going in the wrong direction. Have been thinking of trying new approaches because I don’t think I’m any good at calorie counting. Clearly I’m no good as my results have indicated. I don’t always weigh my vegies, I find the whole process extremely tedious and annoying and I’m not consistent.

So what are my options?

keto/atkins etc- absolutely not. Can’t stand the thought.
vegan/vegetarian-possibly
intermittent fasting- possibly but it may not be possible due to medication I’m taking
5/2- as above

There is one approach I’ve been considering and I’m sure it will result in eye rolling from some people and that’s perfectly ok. It involves thinking of yourself as a younger version of yourself when you were vulnerable and at a time that would encourage you to be really protective and nurturing of yourself. So then when making food choices you’re asking yourself if you’d feed this to a child version of yourself. It probably sounds a bit new age/hippy or whatever but I’ve realised my weight gain is very much associated with when I stopped caring about myself and for any real change to occur I need to change this and nurture and look after myself.

Rexx, I think you should try any method short of things that are unhealthy.

I’m so knackered. I wanted to do some yoga but then realised it had been so long since I’ve done some form of weights that I should do that first and then yoga as a reward. If I’d done yoga first I probably would have talked myself out of doing the KBs by saying “oh well at least I’ve done some yoga”…

Getting back to basics. Concentrating on three things until the end of November to establish them as habits.

  1. exercise everyday for minimum 25 minutes(yoga counts)
  2. Nothing but water or zero calories tea etc for drinking.
  3. Aim for 7 serves of fruit & veg per day but 5 is the absolute minimum

I strongly believe if I stick to this I’ll lose 4kg by the end of November.

Oh I also did 6kg 1 x10 kb press. Forgot about that one.

Really enjoyed this workout. It was pretty gentle but I could feel the tension in my neck easing as I was doing it. Feel great!

Your OOT hospital callback has been the lone highlight since I’ve abstained from that thread.

Legit made me lol.

Is there anything in particular that is keeping you from exercising more each week?

Yoga is a good call, started it this year, too, and love it. It has increased my flexibility tremendously (couldn’t touch my toes, now I can almost get my palms flat on the floor). The increased flexibility has really helped me climb better, and increased my enjoyment of it.
