I think Castro is right. The big cities have been blue. However. Lot of suburbs of those cities have been pretty hardcore red. I think while those same suburbs will still modtl6 lean red, the margin has closed a huge amount, and this is what is putting the state in play. Obviously a huge factor in this is turnout.
Texas voter suppression has been innate not mechanical, because it hasn’t been close until recently. So people just didn’t vote because they felt it didn’t matter. (This is a not uncommon sentiment on this site from people who live in uncontested states). But then one day it is in play when people show up.
I still think Texas will fall short of flipping for Biden but will still have many other good outcomes and set the table for a long term flip of Texas moving forward.
