EDIT: I should add that if he did try it, I honestly think he would be stopped. We know loads of Republican lawmakers hate him - he’s just their useful idiot. Sweet Summer Child and all, but there is a line somewhere for them.

Who is going to stop him? His 6-3 scotus? And yeah, Roberts will probably vote against him. But none of the other 5.

This shows the “drop off” in votes as you go downballot. 2018 makes no sense. The results are saying more people bothered voting for positions like the Commissioner of Agriculture than bothered voting for Lieutenant Governor.
When the nonprofit group, Coalition for Good Governance, looked at majority African-American precincts, the drop-off rate was significantly higher, even reaching 13 percent in some areas.
He’s not winning the 2020 election, so this hand-wringing about him becoming god-king doesn’t matter.
Trump doesn’t even want to win this time. He just doesn’t like the binary win v lose options, if he had another out he would snap take it.
There are mechanisms in place by which he can lose the popular vote and the electoral college and be sworn in as President next January
He’s going to get creamed in votes cast, but he’s got a lot of outs to stop the count and a 6-3 SCOTUS.
Trump would rather lose and just say the votes were fake/corrupt than spend another 4 years as President.
