Just reiterating the point Hokie made that you disagreed with. Speech against minorities has been bludgeoned for centuries.

I don’t disagree with that assertion. It’s just a dumb argument to make for restricting other speech.

Yes I agree. Maybe he could hane worded it better, but I think that what he was going for is destigmatizing the stimulus payments, ie shooting down the conservative Welfare Queen myth.

Lol at +7 results in WI & PA, +8 in MI, and +4 in FL being “mediocre” for Biden. I mean, I agree, they are right now compared to other results we’re getting, but still, what a position to be in three weeks before the election.

It’s more that Ipsos, as a pollster, has tended to be much more bearish on Biden than some others. But yeah, if one of Trump’s more favorable pollsters is putting up Biden +7s in key states, that’s fine with me.

There’s an Overton window moving on expectations for this election for sure.

Wut? My point was that America has never had free speech. Like so many other aspects of modern political discourse that are assumed to be in good faith but actually aren’t, “free speech” is just a euphemism used by the powerful to pretend that they care about freedom, while the same people simultaneously support speech restrictions on others. The hypocrisy was the point.

Edit: I see the conversation continued past this. I don’t really feel like continuing in this thread so I’ll just leave it here.

“White college graduates are also giving Biden a big boost as he enjoys a 31-point lead among that group while Trump leads by 26 points among white voters without a four-year degree, according to the poll.”

Put me in charge of DNC, and I will start sending all these white folks to college. Problem solved by 2024, and more cost effective than spending $50 million on a Senate race.

I think the overall looks okay?

One plausible explanation I read was that Peters doesn’t have name recognition to project a strong win, but unless we see an absurdly split ticket, Biden voters will all but ensure Peters wins even if they can’t name a single thing about him.
