People making less than $400k maybe should pay a little more in taxes but that’s not where tax policy has gone off the rails in the last few decades. It’s with people who earn millions/billions via capital gains at super low rates and/or then have the gall to rig their taxes to defer actually paying that stupid low rate to never (not even via their estate when they die).

The reason that citizens of this country receive less than they should from the government is the same reason that giving tax cuts to the wealthy and corporations doesn’t lead to proportional increases in wages or benefits to the working class.
A capitalist government will always prioritize the flow of profits to the few at the expense of the many for the same reasons that a capitalist business has those same priorities–the people in charge of the businesses are the people in charge of the government.
I agree that angle shooting is an apt analogy. Wealthy landowners and slaveholders created our capitalist government to enforce and codify their angle shooting. Those are the people who get their portraits hung on school room walls, and now the contemporary versions of those people get fawning praise from the media conglomerates that they or their friends own.
I agree, the most regressive thing about the capitalist system is the part where the wealthy dictate who gets the money. Unfortunately(for capitalism fans) that is the founding principle of capitalism.
The capitalist system doesn’t suck because it’s “gone terribly wrong”, it sucks because it is doing exactly what it was designed to do.

The people I know who are members of, or organize with the Party for Socialism & Liberation, and the Socialist Workers Party would probably never vote for a candidate from either faction of the Business Party.
Also, the SWP’s VP candidate is Leonard Peltier. I doubt he’s a GOP operative or a useful idiot.
