Exactly. The truth is if any politician claimed to hold the same policy positions for 50 years you should be extremely suspect of them and their general view of the world.
The other bizarre critique we hear far too often is that changing ones views to match the current zeitgeist is somehow “pandering” or “obviously lying to get elected”. The foundational idea of a democracy is that the representatives actually represent their constituents. They should change their views as their constituents do, within reason.
We are all allowed to learn more about things like trans-rights and BLM by listening to those people and incorporating their ideas into our worldview, but not politicians. If they change their view on a social issue it’s clearly a lie and the “true” belief is the one they held previously.
Biden didn’t evolve on most of this. He put Bernie and some progressives on some committee because he was trying to assuage voters. Bernie went along with the charade because he doesn’t want Trump to win. It’s childish to think that will matter after November.
You need to add more context around this tweet. If you add the first one in the thread it shows that nearly all of the mail-in ballots (97%) are being accepted, which is a good thing. The tweet that you posted shows that ballots of black votes are being rejected more often than ballots of white voters, which is a bad thing. But the overall stats aren’t as bleak as that tweet makes it out to be.
USPS sending out voting info postcards to voters should be a good thing! But sending the same info to voters in every state is insane. #LetChaosReign
Griswold said that secretaries of state had asked postmaster general Louis DeJoy to review a draft before election information was sent out to voters to make sure it was accurate, adding that the Trump-allied, former GOP mega-donor refused. “Now millions of postcards with misinformation are printed & being mailed to voters,” Griswold wrote. She added that officials in her state had asked the USPS not to send the postcards but “they flat out refused.”
Why aren’t I seeing campaign ads about how republicans are blocking critical pandemic relief? It seems like the most obvious thing ever.
“The pandemic is not over. Unemployment is still catastrophically high. Unemployment funds are running out. Business are shuttering, layoffs and evictions are looming. Food banks are overwhelmed. Working families need help now and the economy needs additional stimulus. Democrats are fighting for more help but unbelievably Republicans are demanding less. Send them a message on November 3.”
um, this is troubling. You know I’ve mentioned the people set up on the sidewalk selling trump crap in my town? Apparently it’s some kind of MLM scheme, at least that’s what I’m gathering from this post in my neighborhood FB group.
Those stands being MLM is just chef’s kiss grifting.
There’s a stand on the sidewalk in front of the Shell station as you drive into La Jolla. The Shell station has a big sign saying “We are in no way affiliated with any political vendors”.
I am still confused how they are able to do this without a permit. I know calling the cops would be useless because they’re not going to do shit…but it makes me want to cobble something together and set up near them on the sidewalk and see what happens. Not even Biden stuff. Just a booth selling scented candles or something.
I am actually really curious and am almost tempted to go start investigating this. Obviously it’s being managed by the same people, I want to get to the bottom of it.
