POTUS BOWL 2020: A MEME IS A WISH YOUR <3 MAKES

How about correcting for inflation?

You’re the one who accused people of not giving a shit…

That said I agree there is no reason to justify how shit Bidens position on this stuff is. Of course he’s going to increase military spending and of course its disgusting.

You’re mad at the wrong person though. Don’t be mad at Biden, be mad at the American people. Because no way you can get elected in this shit hole country while admitting you’re going to spend less on the military.

I mean fuck Biden, but fuck Americans even more.

I doubt Biden has any real strong positions, he just does whats politically good for him at the time. If Americans wanted less military spending that would be Bidens position.

i can’t be mad at an Iraq war architect that lied about his vote this year? What?

I am mad at the American people who see fit to clap themselves on the back for being a moral bastion becuase they are voting for a man who made war and lied about it.

“Giving a shit” by going into threads to suck your own dick about voting for a war criminal

I didn’t say you can’t be mad at him, just that you should be mad at the American people instead. Also Like I said Biden sucks. But he supported the Iraq war because the people did, and he wants to increase funding because thats what the people want.

He’s an average slimey shitball politician who does whatever gets him votes.

Was he an architect of the war? Or as he just a clapping seal going with the flow?

I don’t think tbe filibuster is going away. Besides the Senate being a flip, Chuck would need unanimous D agreement.

You’re not technically wrong, but DiFi is a way funnier joke.

It’s such a child-like view of politics, and frankly unforgivable on a forum like this, to think any politician on earth would hold the exact same views during a 50 year career in elected office. It’s straight up stupidity to then argue those changes are a reason not to believe them as if any shifts in policy are somehow “lying”.

I’d explore how we can setup this bet.

How about Biden’s first budget will allocate less than $738b for defence?

How much you thinking?

Nobody is arguing that “changes” are not a reason to believe them. I even acknowledged the possibility that he has really changed. There is absolutely no reason to believe this. What changes do you have in mind?

You are basing your view on mere words. In an election. But yeah, it’s juvenile to base a view on a person’s actual record.

What exactly are your non-juvenile views based on? Words? Is the same credit extended to everyone? How about Donald Trump? How about someone who completely fabricated anecdotes involving Nelson Mandela?

Perhaps I’m mistaken. Perhaps your knowledge of Biden’s record is far better than mine. Wouldn’t be the first time. But I would really like to be enlightened as to what you’re looking at to decide he is sincere, because I’m certainly not taking his word for it. And if you think tossing his recent speeches or published agenda–we’ve already seen the winks between Biden and the bankers–yeah, that shit is pure hearsay and is not admitted.

Fwiw, I do believe that Biden can be pushed on lots of things. He’s a fairly pragmatic politician and it’s notable that as a pretty damn obvious racist he played second fiddle to a Black president. So maybe that’s the change you’re talking about. But he is lol so not being pushed on military or the police and if changes take place there it’s because he’s 100 years old, not that bright, and is getting duped by his staff.

This is an extremely widely held perspective though, and it’s easy retail politics to slam an opponent for their “flip flopping” so it’s going to continue indefinitely.

When stupid people say “Trump tells it like it is!” part of what they’re reacting to is that he has been an unapologetic ignorant asshole for 70 years. Go Team Consistency!

“I’m open minded about the racist, lying, stupid, patsy Biden, honest!”

I don’t see this being a fruitful discussion. Carry on.

Exactly. The truth is if any politician claimed to hold the same policy positions for 50 years you should be extremely suspect of them and their general view of the world.

The other bizarre critique we hear far too often is that changing ones views to match the current zeitgeist is somehow “pandering” or “obviously lying to get elected”. The foundational idea of a democracy is that the representatives actually represent their constituents. They should change their views as their constituents do, within reason.

We are all allowed to learn more about things like trans-rights and BLM by listening to those people and incorporating their ideas into our worldview, but not politicians. If they change their view on a social issue it’s clearly a lie and the “true” belief is the one they held previously.

Biden didn’t evolve on most of this. He put Bernie and some progressives on some committee because he was trying to assuage voters. Bernie went along with the charade because he doesn’t want Trump to win. It’s childish to think that will matter after November.

Ok so the parameters are should Biden win, his first proposed budget will have a total defence allocation of less than $738b?

If so, booked.
