Police Murder George Floyd Then Riot Nationwide (Links to Streams in OP)

Philly cars on fire by city hall all over the news right now.

On cnn they are bashing and have been for a little while now. Lots of rubber rounds being fired. This is gonna go on indefinitely.

The media has to hesitate on calling it a “murder”. They can call it an alleged murder, or a killing, but murder is a legal term, so they usually hold back on calling it a murder. That said, I’ve heard political leaders and other analysts calling it a murder, which also is rare at this point in the case. But the video makes it pretty clear that’s what it is.

The media doesn’t call it murder, because the suspect is charged with murder. So by calling it a murder, they are essentially saying the suspect is guilty. This can give credence to claims that distorted media coverage is impairing a defendant’s right to a fair trial, and can prompt venue changes. It is semantics, but that’s why you don’t hear most media calling Floyd’s death a murder straight up.

I can’t see how this isn’t going to get real ugly.

Cop car on fire in LA on CNN now.

Yea it’s just been getting steadily worse and hasn’t seemed to even crescendo yet

Happening now.

They are just reverting to their instincts.

Google tells me over half the states do not require doctors to carry malpractice insurance.

For those not watching this, live on CNN, there was a crowd of protesters refusing to budge as the cops told them to move. They were being peaceful, though they had previously burned cars. The cops decided to start moving them with batons. The protesters in the front line, all I would say 16-25 years old, men and women, black and white, held hands or linked arms or stood shoulder to shoulder… And they just fucking took the beating. Jabs to the ribs, swings like a baseball bat, they would only move back when the force pushed them back, no voluntary backwards movement. One woman took a jab to the abdomen and was doubled over and kept standing back up when they tried to push her back.

God Bless them all. Heartbreaking, inspiring, hopeful, and depressing all at once. And fuck the police.

Interesting. I was assuming. That surprises me.

For anyone heading out this evening… safety first !!!11

A couple of notes: (1) don’t forget a cop was shot dead in Oakland last night, and (2) expect mass arrests in MN, they’ve promised as much since dawn. And, know that since 2002 major urban police forces proactively share and often coordinate strategies.

shit, they just broke through a police line in La Mesa, marching onto the freeway now

From a protest in LA today. I kept on the periphery because closer to the action people were shoulder-to-shoulder chanting slogans loudly which had me freaked out about the COVID. On the upside close to 100% of people had masks. When the march started and I insisted on remaining outside of the main crowd my kid got frustrated and we left.

Literally as I was writing this I got a text from somebody else there saying that we should leave because “it’s starting to turn”. So I guess we’ll see what happens.

I hear helicopters every now and then and can see them around Center City and the Art Museum, where the protests are. I hear sirens every now and then (I’m about 1.5-2 miles away).

There are at least three fires around City Hall in Philly - two cars north of City Hall and the Starbucks at City Hall on the Southwest corner… I believe there’s also one over toward the Art Museum somewhere.

Sorry I couldn’t make it.

Meanwhile my neighbors in their 50s decided today is a good day to have an outdoor concert with their shitty blues band 10 miles from where Floyd was killed.

Police stations are a logical first choice for property damage. Trump properties are second.

WRT all the protestors in each state, being out of staters, I’m hearing that’s accurate. I’m hearing they’re all actually Wakandan agents.
