Hal Marx, mayor of Petal, about 90 miles southeast of Jackson, weighed in on the video and the widespread criticism of officers involved, tweeting on Tuesday, “Why in the world would anyone choose to become a #PoliceOfficer in our society today?”
Marx, who could not immediately be reached by NBC News on Thursday morning, said he “didn’t see anything unreasonable” in the video that led to the firing of four Minneapolis police officers on Tuesday, and that the cops involved are being “crucified.”
“If you say you can’t breathe, you’re breathing. Most likely that man died of overdose or heart attack,” Marx wrote with no evidence, following up with another tweet that said “officers were not restricting his breathing.”
The city board of alderman unanimously asked him to resign, but can’t remove him from office.
Yeah even the most hardcore deplorables I’ve seen have not been defending this officer. No idea what this idiot was thinking.
I have seen deplorables working hard to stress how this is different from Trayvon Martin or Michael Brown.
Yeah if Nixon were president right now his approval rating would be like 60-70% because of covid-19. Trumps hasn’t budged because he’s such a complete fuck up and can’t help himself.

Also this is probably meaningless but I sometimes lurk on a subreddit politicalcompassmemes because its the only place where I’ve seen people full mask off debating the differences between the ideologies and what they want. LIke people on the right aren’t just like FAKENEWS! They admit to their racism lol.
There are four quadrants. Authleft, Libleft, Libertarian, and authright ( Trump is obviously authright ) and it seems pretty clear that every quadrant thinks this is really bad for Trump because it looks like the country is falling apart.

Most businesses owners are fully covered by insurance from damage in riots right?
Most likely, unless they have a “terrorism” exclusion and the insurance company tries to argue that the damage is terrorism-related.
I’m also pretty sure that most policies exclude damage due to “acts of war,” which presumably means a foreign enemy.

there was an article of one local guy who put all his money into a bar, didn’t open yet because of covid but was going to start of jun, they only stopped them from stealing the safe. He got a go fund me that blewup so he’s fine but I’m sure quite a few of the local businesses don’t as a lot of those small places just don’t have extra funds.
everyone seems to assume this though but many aren’t going to come back.

The Midwest is so terrible. Weather, racism, peak Karen, no culinary anything, people are ugly, economy is largely stagnant to disappearing, zero intellectual curiosity, just an awful awful place.

I mean it makes sense for a business that never opened wasn’t fully covered yet, but are you even allowed to operate a business without insurance? Seems like you wouldn’t be able to.
