Pretty likely he gets off IMO. IANAL, but my analysis… The prosecution will say he tripped, raised his gun, and protesters went after the gun in self defense, fearing for their lives. The defense will say he only tripped cause they were chasing him, hence chasing him was a violent threat to his life, and once on the ground he rightfully feared for his life and raised his gun, but showed restraint not to shoot, then once they reached for it he had no choice left.
The question will be what impact the first murder has on the whole situation, along with the fact that he showed up with an AR-15 and surgical gloves… but ultimately the defense will argue that the only thing that matters is his mental state, and whether he had justification to fear for his life. They will get to a few jurors with that argument IMO. The jury is going to be drawn from Kenosha, WI, right? It’s like 85% white.
The Bucks cancelling a playoff game at risk of forfeiture felt like it could be a turning point, the entire NBA cancelling the slate of games felt like it was a turning point, the Brewers cancelling??? That’s huge.
