I tried to sign up to testify at the budget hearing here in Philly this week, and all the slots were full so I had to submit it in writing. Let’s see what happens at the local level with calls to politicians, speaking slots at hearings, upcoming primaries, etc…
Also I think in some ways a lot of this is like boiling a pot of water, when it starts to boil over, you can pull it off the burner and it’ll settle down pretty quickly, but if you put it back over the burner it starts to boil against almost immediately.
In other words, I think we’re holding steady at like 210 degrees right now instead of like 180 degrees like we were a few months ago. I doubt the cops can go the rest of the year without killing more unarmed people of color on camera, and I have a feeling we’re going to see that pot boil over again when they do.
The same also applies to the verdicts in the Minneapolis cases, if they aren’t all convicted.
Which is kind of a pity since Starbucks was very good to its employees during April and May, as they continued paying everyone while their locations were shut.
Always so much disappoint from “fans” when they find out their favorite band didn’t choose their name because they are horrible racists, but just because they liked a style of house.
I do not even understand what a rational thought would be against changing a name like that.
Wait until they find out that LadyA is actually a close friend of LadyL though.
It was very region dependent, but I think basically all of them closed up the indoor table space and tried to do a drive thru / mobile order only type model. Here in DC, they closed some stores, restricted hours at the ones that were open, and did mobile ordering so you were handed your order at the front door and didn’t enter the store.
Yeah they could have honestly rode it out and faced pretty much no consequences. Not sure I agree with jumping on people for not changing sooner. Doesn’t really encourage others to change.
Unfortunately as was discussed recently here, the violence and turmoil got many more eyes on the protests. This thread’s activity is only a fraction of what it was when it was non stop police brutality.
