I am a lifetime hater of country music, mostly because it always seemed adjacent to (or right fucking on top of) the bullshit southern mentality so intertwined with racism and the confederacy (and also because most of it is fucking terrible). I particularly hated Lady Antebellum because they literally named themselves after the awesomeness that was the period before the Civil War. Well, this was surprising:

What is not surprising are the number of butthurt fans whining in the comment section. Fuck them all.

I hope Ricky Gervais eviscerates this appropriately. Fucking hell.

That’s who I got it from…

Waiting atm for Ricky to absolutely obliterate it in due time… :+1:

Come the fuck on! How is this real life.

The one in pink is either Czech or Slovak. The languages when written are basically the same. The pronunciation, however, is different.

Czech Republic is racist af. Had to leave a few expat groups because of it.

Think of the most useless person you know.

Influencers are way, way more useless than that.

Not sure where to put this, but dropping it here b/c of the connection between DC and some of the protests. I doubt it will pass, but a couple of Reps are proposing a bill that would give the DC Mayor and other officials a change of title to more closely sync their positions with the titles held by similar officials in states (so, Mayor would become a Governor, city council would become a legislature, etc). Possibly laying track for Statehood.

(Tl/dr: Bowser getting a promotion!)

Such messages are prohibited “to create a safe and welcoming” environment at Starbucks locations.

A few years ago my daughter and I were watching an episode of “Say Yes To The Dress, Atlanta” when a bride arrived with her bridesmaids to try to find a wedding dress to evoke the spirit of the Southern plantations, “…like from Gone With the Wind.”.

Of course, the store clerk who helped her was the individual on the left.

Venti douchebags when you pair it with their pinned tweet:

I wish I was the kind of person who would go to Starbucks just so I could stop now.

What a surprise the guy who shot 2 cops in Santa Cruz is linked to the boogaloo movement. Almost all the extreme violence during the protests has been from right wingers and cops

If the enemy of my enemy is my friend, which one is my friend in this case?

Some of you may remember that I was having a back and forth with my former, favorite high school teacher, who has a Ph.D. in History.

In reply to my asking him why he thought generations upon generations of black people have been unable to acquire wealth or avoid prison, he wrote:

I think that the key is to look into America in the 1930’s. Up until the Depression it looked as if African Americans were about to enter a ‘Golden Age’… based on education (the expanding number of Black Colleges), cultural blossoming with the Harlem Renaissance and full employment…and then the collapse happened. This period seems to have been a turning point; poverty hit them harder; and racism seemed to increase. A key point may be the collapse of the Black family (which had been very stable) and rising numbers of one parent homes with deceased income and declining parenting skills

After mulling it over for a few days, I just responded:

I’m not sure if many black people would refer to a “Golden Age” during which they did not have equal rights to education, voting, freedom of travel, employment, access to housing, or protection from state-sanctioned lynchings.

Slavery—>Jim Crow—>Redlining—>Mass Incarceration—>Voter Suppression

White America has directly stolen from and abused black people since our founding.
And you’re regurgitating tired tropes from the 90’s about “poor parenting.”

It sounds like you would rather just enjoy your privilege and wish that those uppity people would just follow the rules or go away.

I’m not a fan either, I don’t like his comedy at all, tbh.

His comedy has its moments. But he is an unrepentant bully and transphobe.

I didn’t know that, I never followed him at all, watched a few episodes of the Office and alough bits are extremely funny its not the type of situational comedy that most Scottish people find funny, he was never popular up here.

I thought Steven merchant would have gotten more credit tbh.

Another JK lmao, these celebrities can’t help themselves :pensive:
