The cost of body cams is a drop in the bucket. I can’t imagine most departments don’t routinely pay out more in claims every single (pre pandemic) year. Cops get paid to train, so the cost of training is how many man hours they are going to boondoggle away.
For the costs of fielding the riot squad… there was a whole lot of “OMG Occupy is costing the PDs fortune!” crap about 8 years ago in the MSM. Take those numbers and multiply by what… 100x maybe.

Yeah, I’d think so. Joe Arpaio alone cost Maricopa County $140M over his tenure. Cost of outfitting all 120,000 cops in US with cams and maintaining data for 5 years at $5k/cam (by one estimate I found) is $600M.
I am much more worried about the police coming for me then any phantom social justice mob.

I saw this on Twitter and went down a rabbit hole. I couldn’t believe all the stories of little towns in middle of nowhere that were scared bus loads of antfi were coming. The worst one I read was a couple that were camping in Forks Wa. They were followed back to their camp site where the local dummies then chopped down branches blocking the road. Some local high school kids helped the couple clear the road. That gave me a little hope at least. The Facebook posts of the locals did not give me hope…
I really think that we passed the Rubicon when the cops started beating up ordinary white people on TV. In the 60’s, the cops were on TV turning firehouses on black people and beating up hippie draft-dodging college kids. No one gave a fuck about that. That was all part of the plan. Now they’ll shove you and crack your skull open if you’re a 75-year-old white guy and we have video footage of it. It is increasingly difficult for Joe Sixpack to understand who is being served and protected here. To say nothing of the people who are on the internet watching a constant display of cops beating the shit out of people for no reason for days on end. The whole “one rotten apple” theory breaks down pretty quick when there’s like dozens of rotten apples clubbing people every night on Twitter.

yup. I really should post some screenshots of the posts in my local FB groups. It was hilarious and sad at the same time. The scariest part about it is they were/are completely in earnest. These people truly, honestly believe that buses full of rioters are coming to Ramona fucking California to loot our mostly-empty K-mart, tag our antique stores, and throw bricks through the windows of the bike shop.
The mixture of arrogance and cowardice is a sight to behold.
