Police Murder George Floyd Then Riot Nationwide (Links to Streams in OP)

You could if you win over the majority of dem voters. Dem politicians no different than republicans for the most part in that they really only care about getting re-elected so they can keep grifting.

I think we’re doing a pretty good job of winning the PR battle now, but I agree its hard to keep peoples attention with it being peaceful.

That is where corporate media comes in. It scares voters off from voting for anyone who threatens the status quo. Source: 2020 primary.

And it isn’t just about Bernie. Warren got got as the frontrunner last fall as well.

I think the corporate media has skin the game against full change like Bernie, but they probably don’t care a whole lot about police reforms, at least in terms of police brutality.

Like the rich corporate overlords aren’t gonna lose money if police don’t have qualified immunity, there are civilian review boards, and law suits come out of pensions etc.

I agree some minor changes might happen. I am just saying the media will paint the picture the way they want to try and prevent actually defunding or any significant action wrt police just like everything else. The owners of the media all benefit greatly from the police state.

The Civil Rights Act, Medicare, etc. - by the way the last actual liberal policy wins, which occured 50 FUCKING YEARS AGO - did not pass because of peaceful protests or bipartisanship. They passed because LBJ bullied people into voting for them. Asking nicely, writing letters and sighing in frustration doesn’t f’n work.

The donor class has massive investments in urban real estate, and depends on the police for the maintenance of property values. They absolutely don’t want any meaningful reform.

why would cops not killing black people hurt prop values?

wont constant protests and rioting hurt prop values more than not letting the police kill black people?

Because black people could go near your property with impunity. Having black people around hurts your property values, especially if you have expensive property that can mostly only be afforded by other rich white people who want to stay away from the darkies.

The George Floyd scenario would be a good test for new officers in a reworked policing system. Have an actor play George and teach the training officers to convincingly simulate excessive force without putting him in actual danger.

One of your first days on the job, your training officer uses clearly excessive force on a suspect in a secluded location. If your response is something other than quickly stopping him and reporting it, you fail, with consequences relative to the degree of failure. If you do nothing and the suspect “dies”, you are banned from all LE forever.

Democrats at large have this weird stumbling block with supporting “unpopular” positions. Even if it something they believe in, they will rarely have unwavering support for something that polls at under 51% with the American public. We last saw this with same sex marriage. It’s an insane way to govern.

Doesn’t look like it’s only white people that want the police abolished in Minneapolis

True courage.

So I don’t see any cops anywhere in ATL or DC. Like DC has an 8pm curfew and there are no cops anywhere. Maybe way, way behind the wall?

Kinda weird.

I guess lib mayors govs finally smartened up and realized how bad they were looking even to moderates.

They also weirdly have a hard time supporting things that poll over 50% like the vast majority of Bernie’s platform. I wonder why that is.

Should a news organization be protecting the identities of these people?

Ugh. I found some UFCW locals represent cops. I’m not sure I can keep supporting my union.
