I grew up in a very affluent, very white Canadian suburb. About a decade ago, our local police force was disbanded and replaced by the RCMP after a prolonged investigation. The small detachment of a half dozen or so officers had their Christmas party, and afterwards one drove home drunk and killed a young woman on the road. The others attempted a cover-up, I dont think they immediately issued a breathalyzer, drove him home etc.
I also grew up with both parents being officers and want to make a longer post on that, but don’t want it to be too personal.

I honestly feel way more hopeless watching senior (pun intended) Democratic politicians than I ever do watching Trump. Chuck Schumer sleepwalking his way through yet another emotionless speech about how bad Trump is before heading off to the Hamptons to party with Trump’s kids and GOP donors is about as depressing as it gets for me.

Dem stooges defunding the police is never happening. Look at Cuomo sucking police off the last week for proof.
Bill Deblasio’s daughter was doxxed by the head of the police union and he’s still sucking off the cops. Its hopeless.
Stooges can be replaced in the cities or be highly pressured by protests. Again, this is actually one of the few issues that cities have control over.
You have to elect a mayor that isn’t afraid of the police. That is the biggest hurdle imo.

I went to a Police Ball years ago (essentially prom for cops) when one of my buddy’s called me up on a Saturday evening 30 minutes prior to getting me saying to put on a suit because the girl he was going to take stood him up. It was in a Very, very affulent/white town. At the end they said “okay everyone you have 30 minutes to get home no questions asked”. Literally made that announcement.
We had another one of his lady friend’s pick us up because we knew were going to get hammered at open bar but different rules apply to different people so we apparently could have drove.
the department was not disbanded when someone leaving the Ball got into a minor accident hitting a tree

If they wanted to, cops could sit outside an NFL stadium and issue at least 1000 DUIs every Sunday.

I feel like the appropriate response is tit-for-tat and releasing the police union chief’s home address. My theory is that people often attack others in the ways they fear most being used against them and these police thugs are no different. Protests should visit this person’s residence, if they haven’t already.

Yup. But then you’d have to arrest rich white people. Two years ago when I went to Gillette to watch Pats/Dolphins our tickets were 100s each.
If you’ve ever been to Gillette Stadium it’s essentially a small two lane road in/out off the highway for like 5 miles. Would be so easy to rack up DUI over DUI for the town.
Aww I remember one of the first nights I was watching streams some old white lady with a walker was sitting down right before curfew and refusing to get up, basically going hard for the cause.
She had a super beat up walker and Peachyrider went got her a new walker.
